More than just a good location hotel

My recent stay at Swissotel The Stamford has changed my perception aboput this hotel and it is now again one of my favourite hotels in Singapore. I was feeling more than just welcomed from the moment stepping out from the cab to the whole process of checking in. This is what a service industr should be like. Keep up the good effort pal!

Hotel has a great location with fantastic views for most rooms. The extensive Singapore subway is under the hotel so we could travel around very easily; only used a taxi for airport.Rooms and bathrooms are slightly on the small size for a hotel of this class.We found breakfast was just too expensive, but had dinner at Pregos in the Fairmont Hotel next door. Great tennis courts and gym.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The tennis courts on the top of the mall are unique for a city center hotel.

Comfortable but not outstanding

Upon check-in, we were upgraded to a bigger room which was nice, however the room had a little balcony attached and the door was oddly designed. This meant that the outside street noise wasn't entirely shut out so it was disruptive at times(even though we were on the 23rd floor).
Room itself was well-sized and clean, though a bit dated, particularly the bathroom.
Nice touch with the nespresso machine, but would have been nice to have had some mugs to have tea with.

5 Star Hotel with excellent service.
The hotel is part of Raffles City shopping centre with City Hall underground station under it.

the swissotel the stamford, singapore is a 5 star hotel and part of rafffles city upmarket shopping centre which has city hall mrt station under it. at 70 floors it is one of the highest hotel buildings in asia and is also linked to the fairmont hotel which occupies another corner of raffes city and residents can sign for services in both hotels. the hotel is a half hour taxi ride from the airport at a cost of about 30 sing $ which is about 8 gbp. on arrival the bell boy took the luggage and a receptionist escorted us from the car to check in asking our name on the way. when we reached reception our room key was ready and with a quick signature and a swipe of the credit card we were escorted to the lifts and up to our room. our bags arrived one minute later. the room had two double beds, a large flat screen tv with a good variety of international channels, a dressing table with a stool and a desk with two seats. there was a phone on the desk and by the beds as well as in the toilet which had a nice sized bath with shower. the flush for the toilet was a round push knob set in the wall and was a little hard to push. the mini-bar was well stocked and there was the usual free coffee and tea as well as an in room safe. the room has wired or wifi internet but it cost 28 sing $ (about 15 gbp) for a 24 hour period although the business centre on the 4th floor (in the fairmont hotel) allowed 15 minutes free internet usage for residents who were printing boarding passes. the lobby court restaurant by reception provided continental breakfast for 22 sing $ (about 11 gbp) and a nice snack lunch at a very reasonable price. the café swiss restaurant breakfast cost 44 sing $ (about 20 gbp) for full breakfast and 31 sing $ (about 15 gbp) for continental. the asian delights evening buffet was very good and cost 69 sing $ (about gbp). all staff were very friendly and extremely polite. the shopping mall had a wide variety of upmarket shops and the basement has a supe

Ecellent front desk service and was impressed by the initiatives and efficiency shown throughout my stay. Service responses were relatively prompt and view from balcony was beautiful at night. The only 'set-back' for the hotel was that the room was a little dated and could do with some upgrading; lights were individually managed with independent circuits.
