Fairly old room and bad service
Plenty of restaurants to choose from in the basement, and food quality is not bad. Suggest not to take the buffer dinner in the hotel as the quality is not very good.
Worth a try for the Equinox restaurant as there will be a good view. Overall the food is quitems good and many choices.

Nice Hotel but lousy service
Rooms are very big and the hotel has a very nice restaurant at the top floor

I would have enjoyed my stay if the service was better. When we arrived there were too many people in the reception and the line was very long. It took us one hour just checking in and the worst thing the one who checked us in was a newbie and was not in the character we are expecting for a five star hotel. She didn't not give us all that we requested in our room. Like twin bed, connecting rooms, and high floor. She gave us a non connecting room with king size beds and on a very low floor. So much so for our request.
Travel tip:
Nice for a five star hotel but not recommended for people who are always in a hurry. Slow service

The hotel is situation right above the train station and the shopping mall in the heart of the city. It is fairly assessible to every parts of the small island.
However, as with all old long standing hotels, the drainage for the bathroom was choked and parts of the bathroom was flooded after a bath. It was so slippery that I almost fell. So always place the floor mat next to the bath tub to avoid mishap.
Check-out may take time due to the often high occupany rates. Breakfast is always a long queue as well as waiting for a lift due to high occupancy rates.
The carpets in the room is old and stained.
The only advantage is if you get a high floor facing the sea so you can view the Flyer, Marina Bay Sands etc.

Experienced delayed service when we called for a service technician to reset the room master control. It appears that the operator / front desk does not communicate with the technical dept. It took us 4 calls over an hour to have the tech service attention!

the view from the room is really unforgettable. Still I wish the bed was put in front of the window so you could enjoy the view from the bed.
Price for room service is way too expensive.
A cup of cappuccino for SGD12, really?
Hotel facilities are old and standard, compare to the room rate is quite disappointing.
Please improve the food quality of Equinox restaurant. Really bad.

the stamford was quite run-down for a hotel of it's rating and price, though i have a suspicion that perhaps other rooms have been more recently refurbished - ours had early 1980's style phones, radio, air-con, lighting, pictures, carpet, etc. the bathroom was fine, but shower a bit erratic, and rust visible. definitely in need of a refurb. prices of everything were exhorbitant ( a small hot chocolate!) but location a big bonus as starbucks and an upscale food-court pretty much inside the hotel.

A staycation in Singapore for our 6th Anniversary! Swissotel is conveniently located at City Hall MRT Station and can be access via Raffles Shopping Mall. The location is great . Able to walk to Suntec City , Esplanade , Bugis. We just have to go down and buy from the restaurants below at Raffles Shopping Mall if we are hungry.
Shopping Tip:
The hotel is directly above a shopping mall ; Raffles Shopping Mall. Theres a wide range of goods from Luxury Goods to Consumers Goods available .
