MRT, Food outlets nearby. Walking distance to Bugis
The hotel is very large and very busy, 800+ rooms. Check-in is swift. Rooms are not big enough for several suitcases. Originally booked a superior double but later upgraded to a family room (large double and single bed)for an extra $50 per night, enough for two adults and three little children under 6. The windows are large and view was of the east of Singapore. The shower space was tight but manageable, towels and amenities were provided. The rooms were cleaned adequately. Did not eat at the hotel as there were many food outlets below the hotel leading to the MRT. There are the regular fast food places Mcdonalds, Burger king both halal. Also there were several other halal eateries. Across the hotel on the next block is a large supermarket called Fair Price, where you can buy groceries and regular prices. You can walk to Bugis its down the road a 15 minute walk. You will find malls and the Bugis village market where you can buy souvenirs at prices cheaper than at tourist attractions. Before Bugis is Arab street where there is the Sultan mosque, there are perfume shops and Lebanese and Turkish restaurants, prices are above average. There are lots of fabric shops in this area. There is a Nandos at Bugis mall that did take out. The hotel was fine with food being delivered, we also had dominoes pizza delivered. You can also walk to Mustapha centre, prices are not cheaper as they make out, but it is open 24hours. Taxis are readily available outside the hotel. We got the MRT from Changi airport to the hotel and a taxi back to the airport. A one way journey on the MRT was around $1.50-$2.00 depending on where you wanted to go to. The MRT is awesome, its clean and child friendly. The people of Singapore are also very helpful and kind, one lady covered my son with her umbrella when it started raining as we walked. I will definitely use this hotel again as you can access Singapore from the MRT below.
