excellent location affordable price free wireless Internet access

the position of the air conditioner

I was looking for an affordable hotel near the SMU administration building, and I'm glad found this hotel. The room is small, equiped with the standard hotel features: TV, fridge, tea/coffee making facility. I'm glad it has free wireless Internet access, I'm happy with this service because 2 month ago when I stayed at another hotel, I was charged for Internet access. But one thing that was a little bit irritating was the position of the air conditioner, it facing to bed, and it was rather difficult to adjust to prevent the wind blew to my body

Very clean, hospitable,central, good value

No lounge room for the guests,No restaurant, guests have to dress up and go out searching for an eating place

It was my first visit to Singapore. I had never travelled a first visit to a country alone. After a little bit of coaxing I managed to persuade a friend whom I had not seen for a long time to travel and meet me at the airport. I stayed three days at Victoria Hotel. Those days in Singapore and Victoria Hotel are going to be my best memorable time of my life.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Public transport is very convenient to travel to any part of the city

The hotel is in a great location close to Bras Basah Shops, Art Gallery and National Library. The service was very good, staff were friendly and helpful. The deluxe room was nice for the price and mostly clean.

The shower nozzle was broken and one of the drinking glasses was not completely clean.

Overall I liked my stay at the Victoria Hotel. The superior rooms are very small as is common in 2 star hotels in Singapore, but the deluxe room was quite comfortable. It is next to a small 7 Eleven and a 10-15min walk to the MRT. Other than the 7 Eleven, there are no very close options for inexpensive western-style food or breakfast. It is close to the many higher-end restaurants at Chijmes. If the small bar next door started offering good value breakfast again it would make a big difference. If you are travelling with children, you will find that there are no suitable TV channels for children. A cartoon or disney style channel would have really helped in addition to the couple of satellite channels offered. Free Internet access made this hotel good value.

Restaurant Tip : Our favourite restaurant at nearby Chijmes is the Hogs Breath Cafe for the best steak ever!

Human scale building, professional but not impersonal front desk, warm and courteous servants. Located at fulcrum: very convenient, good transport links.

Only one reliable lift. De-luxe room cupboard too small.

* very good location. 3-5 minutes walk to Buguis station. it is also in front of a bus station. * VERY CONVENIENT. * spacious room compare to hotels of the same range. * complimentary drinks & bath items * simple but very presentable

* the towels in our room were old; the material was thin already obviously due to frequetn use. * no major negative comments. GENERALLY VERY GOOF EXPERIENCE.

The hotel location is very good. Since our trip to SG is primarily for vacation and touring purposes, the location was very convenient. It is just 3-5 minutes walk to Buguis station and is just in front of a bus station. All the positive reviews we read prior to booking at Victoria Hotel were indeed TRUE. The room is indeed spacious compare to other affordable hotels we checked. There were even complimentary bottled water, coffee and bath items. The hotel interior is clean. The hotel staff are helpful and very patient...except for the old man in charge of the concierge. The requests we made upon booking, like change of 2 double size beds to queen size bed, etc, were attended to. If the price can be lowered a little more, Victoria Hotel will be the best affordable hotel in SG city central.

Restaurant Tip : * For fine dining or a very decent night life, go to CHIJMES. It has good food and band performance. Chijmes is just at the next corner from Vicotria Hotel. * For cheap local food, there are hawker stalls 2 buildings from the hotel. It is open for 24 hours.

bed was big but you may be able to feel the springs if you're not drunk

this place was very clean and cozy. the location was a great starting point for the days adventure. two computers at the lobby for ease of checking email etc. rather easy to catch a cab on the opposite side of the street. all in all, great hotel for the price, would stay there again.

Free wireless internet, good customer service, easily accessible.

Knew about room size in advance, but it wasn't that bad - sufficient for a budget hotel.

This is THE place to go for somewhere just to crash while holidaying in Singapore. If you're not seeking a destination hotel, this is more than sufficient; staff are polite and very helpful and accomodating. I definitely recommend this hotel, especially due to its location and proximity to many other food halls/restaurants/pubs.

Restaurant Tip : Lots of food halls within walking distance.

Small rooms and if you're near the lift lobby .. could get noisy.

Excellent location, good for everything - business, shopping, family. Easy access to anywhere in Singapore by bus or MRT.

Restaurant Tip : Food center 100M from hotel is great also check out the street next to Raffles Hotel for Old Swee Kee chicken rice !

Location / price / 7-11 in front of the hotel / hawker far nearby.

Too small and not too comfortable.

The location is the most beneficial part of staying here. You can walk to most of the key highlights of the Marina area. It was also easy to get in and out of the hotel. The room was very small and the furnitures were old & mostly worn out. Bring some ears plugs since the walls are very thin. You pretty much get what you paid for.

Restaurant Tip : 7-11 in front of the hotel and a good hawker fare just meters from the hotel.

Good spot, just next to bus stop. Nice staff and good security. Complimentary internet and wi-fi are welcomed. Next door 7-11 are a plus.

My room is small, just enough for two. Bathroom feels like airplane toilet, really small.

Firstly the hotel just behind the bus stop, it really convenience. Next the 7-11 shop next to hotel door are great. While having hair salon inside the hotel lobby is rather odd, the hotel staff are cheerful. They also provide newspaper and magazine to read at lobby. The free internet and wi-fi are great, so I can still update my FB at no cost. Inside, the room are rather small. There's really room efficiency. My bed facing bathroom door, and little room to move, especially if you bring large bag. The bathroom although modern are really really small, so little space to put women toiletries. The air-con position a little annoyance to me. It place just atop bathroom door, facing my bed. So the wind need to be adjusted before you sleep. Victoria hotel give two bottle of complimentary water, which I liked. Hotel room key while advanced and secure magnetic key, it has a drawback. When you gone out, it also shut all electricity, so when I'm back from outside, the room are warm, the fridge also not chilled any drink I put before.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Victoria hotel is just walking distance from Singapore Art Museum. You should go and check it out, especially friday at 6pm it's free entrance.

Location, cleanliness

Small room, a bit jaded, no view

First of all you should be aware that I was upgraded from a standard to a superior room, so I got more than I paid for and my comments are about the superior room (I didn't see a standard room). The room I had was quite small, a bit dated and had no view. On the other hand it was clean and comfortable enough for a short stay (I stayed one night) and the hotel is in a convenient location for transport, shopping at eating as Bugis is just around the corner. This is a quite busy hotel, which suggests they're hitting the mark regarding price. Despite this, the staff were helpful and friendly. Overall, no problems and I would stay here again.

Shopping Tip : Turn right out of the hotel entrance and walk for 10 minutes along Victoria Street and you'll come to Funan IT mall, a fantastic place stuffed full of computer gadgets, books, software, etc. Not only that, but it has Thai, Japanese, and other restaurants.

> nice location > cheap > nearby 24 hrs food court > good service

> limited channel on tv

For short time stay in singapore, its worth every SGD. Plus you really wont be spending most of your time inside the room. But if ever you are, still holds its name on cleanliness, good service and comfort. The hotel has a nearby 24 hr food court which is approximately less than 200 meteres away. also, a 7-11 convenience store, coffee shop and money exchange can be found at the hotel lobby. the staffs are really friendly. Also a free wifi access can be found in all rooms and if ever you dont have a laptop with you, there are computers in the lobby that you can use for free!!! Im sure that ill be staying again in victoria hotel for my next visit in singapore

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : there's an ongoing construction of an mrt station that is very near the hotel

Excellent location (opposite the famous Raffles Hotel), clean rooms and excellent service.

None really -- the prices here are fair and good value because the rooms can be small, so not the place to go if small rooms are not your thing

Pros: Excellent location (opposite the famous Raffles Hotel), clean rooms and excellent service. Easy to find and close to major amenities -- food, historic part of town, MRT (subway) for easy transport, shopping. Prompt service as it is a small cosy hotel. Cons: None really -- the prices here are fair and good value because the rooms can be small, so not the place to go if small rooms are not your thing

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Walk to the Fullerton hotel at night and then the Esplanade for a beautiful view of the sea, the city centre lights and a historic building (the Fullerton)
