i had to ask for hair dryer and a tooth paste and it was past mid-night when i eventually arrived at the hotel, perhaps it would be nice to have the hair dryer there at least?

check in was hassle free,room was paid for through agoda so not required for any other payment, was upgraded to deluxe plus room. excellent front counter personnel with flawless service. will stay there again very soon!

This hotel was great. A brief walk, 5-10minutes, to Orchard Rd, even less for Scott St. Very convenient location for shopping and food. It was a bit further to get to the MRT but not much further. The rooms were large and clean. We had 2 cots put in the room for the kids and there was still plenty of room to move around. Tip: cots are free but extra bed you have to pay for. The cots are large and our 6 year old managed to fit in the cot, so that was cheaper.
Only down side: we were in a room that had an adjoining door. The problem with this is that the door was not sound proof and we could very easily hear the people in the next room. I suggest you ask to be in a room that is not adjoining any other rooms.

My room was great. My son is so happy to stay there.
Even though the location is close enough to Orchard (which is great), unfortunately the location towards to the hotel is slightly uphill.
So... when we went back to the hotel late at night (with bunch of shopping bags, of course :)), the return trip (to the hotel) felt like years..

York Hotel is very accessible to Orchard Road, where the shopping centers are. The atmosphere is also very homey, fit for a family with young children. It is also very near two hospitals along Mt. Elizabeth. The room, at least the one we stayed in is the just the right size for a family of four. I would highly recommend the hotel to my friends and will definitely consider staying here the next time I go back to Singapore
