Efficient and courteous staff, smooth check in. Wake up to the sounds of birds twittering around Mt Elizabeth. Terrific location 10 mins stroll to the action in Orchard Rd.
VERY hard bed. Charge $3.50 for ice in your room!
I have never, ever had I had to pay for ice in my room...not even in Paris! When I phoned room service to request ice, I was advised the charge would be $3.50! I was so annoyed, I went without. However, I will stay here again as the location is terrific for shopping, wandering around Orchrd Rd and not far to walk home. Staff are efficient and helpful and the place is spotless.
Shopping Tip : Paragon Arcade

Very quiet, yet a few min walk to Orachard. Value for money. Big large rooms.
Carpet need to be replaced. Room freshner is needed. Wifi is very slow - and had to call help-desk many times, with no luck. Help desk was rude.
Enjoyed the walking part to Orachard. Very quiet. Enjoyed the pool. Gym was sufficient. Rooms were very big, but with minimal aminities. I will not buy internet access card - speed is very slow.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Orchard is just 3 min walk.

Walking distance to Orchard Road, Scotts Road, Orchard Station, Paragon, ION, Lucky Plaza, Far East Plaza and pretty much the rest of Orchard Road. It's a pretty 'basic' hotel in many ways but If you really just need a nice place to crash inbetween trips around town, then this place gives good value for money.
1. The walk back to the hotel from Orchard or Scotts Road is a short one but I feel I should mention that it is a slight uphill climb which can feel more like a mountain after a days worth of walking around Singapore. (For most of you this is not a big deal at all).
2. It was kinda weird that the TV in our room was mounted on a wall that was almost parallel to the SIDE of the bed, and that wall was at an angle facing away from the bed which meant that we had to lie down ACROSS the bed to get the best view of the TV. (just another slight annoyance)
3. Wireless Internet access in NOT free, but for quickie email checks and other stuff you can purchase 2-hour cards at the reception for around 8SGD. 24-hour and 7-day cards are also available. The time on these cards are non-accumulative, meaning once you log-in, time starts running even if you log-out so plan your online activities beforehand to make the most of your 2-hours
Not much else I can say.
Taxi fare from the hotel was under 20 bucks. Check-in was rather painless, I just had to present the Agoda voucher.
We were quite suprised that our room was HUGE! It was a double-deluxe room that had the same price as a Superior room. With enough extra beds, you could fit 8 people in there comfortably (no kidding!) Of course you'd have an equally long queue to the rest room, haha.
This hotel is far from fancy but then again, we didn't go to Singapore to stay in our room all day. I'd like to say it's plain and simple but it serves it's purpose.
It also a good jump-off point to almost anywhere in Singapore since you can just walk down to the MRT Orchard Station. Bus stops are even closer, and you have the ever-reliable Citycab Taxi Service which can pick you up wherever you may be, at your disposal 24-hours a day.
I can't comment on the food 'cause we just tried the pancakes and the waffles which were nothing great by hotel standards. We figured that's how everything else would be, overpriced and unsatisfying. Anyway, there were lot's of places to eat along Orchard and at Far East Plaza on Scotts.
Check out was also painless.
Travel tip : 1. Learn to use MRT and the bus system. You will save LOADS! Also, you use the SAME card on buses and trains
2. If your main purpose is to go back and forth from Lucky Plaza and/or Far East Plaza, this hotel is a good base camp since it's close to both.
3. For "High-End" shopping, check out ION Orchard.
4. For good meals on a budget, go to the top floor of Far East Plaza which is just a short walk from the BACK ENTRANCE of The York. There's good shopping there too if you're not brand conscious. Conveniece stores such as 7-11 and fast food joints like KFC and Carl's Jr. are also at Far East Plaza.
4. Lastly, get a local SIM Card. We've been using a "Hi" pre-paid SIM card for quite some time now and it's pretty efficient. 20SGD worth of load goes a long long way. Big savings especially if you're calling/texting people back home. Just make sure you buy the right kind of card/load for your SIM.

Rooms comfortable and clean as advertised,
conveniently located to Orchard street.
location not quite central but still ok
Rooms comfortable and clean as advertiised, hotel is conveniently located for Orchard street shopping. All taxi drivers seem to know where it is.Within 15 to 20 minutes I could get to all my points of interest by taxi, taxi costs reasonable,
Hotel staff showed interest and attentive.Hotel restaurant food better than I expected, all in all no disappointments.

the elevators were very fast, the housekeeping and room service was very efficient,
The internet service is not free, and is very expensive on a per hour basis. Not enough seats at the lobby.
Our stay at York Hotel was quite pleasant. As outlined above, the elevators were efficient, so there were no long waiting queues at the lobby. The room was good, and kept clean and well maintained by housekeeping. The location is very convenient, being a few minutes walk away from Mount Elizabeth Hospital, as well as the shopping and entertainment center at Orchard Road. Taxis were available at all times which was an added bonus. However, the room rates were a bit expensive.

Deluxe room was huge. Separate bath and shower also welcome. Reception efficient, friendly.
Guests must climb 15-20 steps to reach the lobby. Not a big deal, but a struggle with heavy bags and strollers. Breakfast buffet only offered one kind of tea - Lipton Yellow Label. What about offering other tea flavours like Darjeeling, Earl Grey and perhaps a Chinese Green tea? Internet access cards must be purchased at reception.
In all, a value stay. Easy access from Changi Airport, and the walk from Orchard Road is actually quite pleasant. Great size rooms (mine was a Deluxe), value price booked the night before arrival and a reasonable breakfast buffet. Only the stairs from the concourse and the less-than-active doorman let the place down. I'd come again.

Location Location Location to just about everything in Singapore is the key to this Hotel.
Well priced for large rooms. We used the Delux room and had more space than we needed.
Bed (King sized as well)was very hard.
If you are a non smoker then don't go to a smoking floor even if is the only room left. We tried it for convenience but moved immediately with no problems.
This is a mid to high quality hotel but comfortable enough and priced very well with the help of Agoda. The pool is basic but okay. The decor in the rooms is modern and very smart. The service was very good and allowed early check in and late check out to 2pm. You could also store luggage and use the pool and pool showers to freshen up after you have checked out. For the tourist this hotel was very satisfactory. Location just off Orchard road and next to MRT. Didn't dine in the hotel.
Shopping Tip : Orchard road is the place to shop and is also very close to China town and Bugis street.

The room is big, but the bed is suppose to be bigger. The hotel is just standard as they've been for awhile. Location is good in a quite area.
Some remodelling and trainning of the staff to a today standard will be a plus for the hotel.
I've visited Singapore quite often. This is the first time I stayed at this hotel as recommended by friend saying its behind Lucky Plaza, which actually not exactly behind it. The room is roomy, but the bed is not as big as the other hotel I stayed last month. Some improvement is recommended to be more competitive with the other hotel surrounding.
Travel tip : Depending on your purpose to stay in Singapore. Its good to have a quite stay, away from the bustling of Metropolitan here at York Hotel.

near Orchid Road, but yet quiet
no complementary mineral water, no newspapaer, no ironing facility in room.
for a 4 star hotel, it is what I expected and paid for. The hotel looks newly refurbish in the lobby and part of the room. The room furnishing is a bit plain, but not of major concern. Non- provision of mineral water, tooth brush and newspaper are minor inconvenience. For the money I have paid I don't mind coming back

great room. Value for money
Internet access is unreasonably expansive.
I like the room and the service level provided by the staff. However, I don't like the Indian lady at the checkout counter who didn't smile and look serious/fierce throughout the checkout procedure like I owed her money. I haven't tried the food in the restaurant. So, I can't comment on it.
Shopping Tip : It's right at Orchard shopping strip!

Reasonable price
Huge room space
Doesn't look like a 4stars hotel
The locations is great, next to Far-East Plaza and 5 mins walking to Orchard Road, The room is quite big enough for four persons to stay in, but the environment doesn’t feel like a 4stars hotel (more like 3stars). However the price is quite cheap for the location and size of the room.
