- clean
- great location in the middle of lots of things
- friendly staff who spoke great english
- modern look (hotel and rooms)
- small room
- a little difficult to find (make sure you write down directions or a little map before you go to it)
It was a great stay at the Doulos hotel. There is so much to do around the area if you're a big walker. Myeong dong is like a 10 minute walk...you have alot around you. The hotel was very clean and they gave you lots toiletries for free. The bed was pretty comfortable. Overall a really great stay for the price, I would definately stay there again.

Nice staff, free breakfast, convenient location in central Seoul
A little hard to find at first, as it's back in an alley. Rooms are small but adequate.
Great place to stay. Staff was very friendly, room was clean. Fridge and free wireless internet were nice pluses. Breakfast was cereal, coffee, yogurt, juice, fruits, sausage, eggs, etc.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : You can get anywhere in Seoul from Jongno 3-ga subway station, which is only 5 min. from hotel.

Location, clean well maintained rooms, helpful and informed staff, nice foyer design, well priced
Tricky to find, breakfast closes too early, music videos accompany breakfast,
The Doulos hotel is a clean and well designed hotel with just a few shortfalls, making it a very good option for visitors to Seoul.
It's shortcomings are few, but they are significant. The hotel is positioned within a maze of alleyways and is recessed from the footpath/road making it difficult to sight. A friendly local noticed me trying to find the hotel and told me it was right behind me!
A straightforward way to find it is: exit 15 Jogno-3sam-ga, at street level walk 5 or so meters, take the first alley entrance on the left, walk 30 meters until this alley intersects with Gwansu Dong, turn right, walk 10 meters and it's on your left.
The foyer is a tasteful mix of Le Corbusier lounge chairs and Danish modernist lamps which give it a distinctly boutique hotel feel. The staff speak good English and basically nothing is too much trouble. The rooms, although small, feature smart fittings and are spotlessly clean. The in-room (free :-) ) Internet is a welcome inclusion, as is the complimentary bottle of Evian and chocolates. Nice touch Doulos!
The only downside is the timing of breakfast. Breakfast is over at 9am sharp and after a heavy day of sight-seeing you have to drag yourself to the basement well before 9am. The tables are communal which is fine, however the accompanying music videos of Shaila Twain etc are invasive and not conducive to a pleasant start to the day.
Nevertheless, the Doulos remains a very good option and its cool location amongst the alleyways and proximity to several significant cultural sites and Cheonggyecheon Stream ensures that you don't get a typical anonymous-bland 5 star introduction to Seoul.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : A 20 min walk north west of the Doulos - via Insdadong Gil - are two excellent galleries: Gallery Hyundai and the Kumho Art Gallery (both on Samcheongdong Gil) and if you are looking for something more traditional, directly opposite these modern/contemporary galleries is the impressive Gyeongbokgung Palace. A 5 mins walk south of the Doulos is the beautifully landscaped Cheonggyecheon Stream. Walk along the stream, stop for an excellent coffee, continue walking westwards to the Kumho/Asiana business towers... they have fantastic art collections that are free for all to enjoy!

Generally, I liked, they gave me even the room at 11 am, when i told that I travelled last night and I'm very tired, friedly staff, not only first day, my best regards to the staff
the map how to find the hotel could be more clear,
I did not take a taxi, one of them did not know the hotel, but I found accidentally a tourist information, who knew and gave me a map, I was just few hundred meters from the hotel

The workers at the hotel are very nice and friendly. They were able to answer any questions we had about how to get to certain places in Seoul and they made excellent recommendations. The hotel is also kept very clean. They provide a complimentary breakfast for each guest which included fresh fruit, vegetables, delicious bread, and soup.
The rooms are a bit small, but we had a 1 year old baby with us and his play pen was still surprisingly able to fit in the room!
Doulos Hotel is a relatively small hotel, but I would recommend it to anyone because the workers are very friendly and they seem to pay attention to a lot of detail. They treat us as if we're guests in their own home. The hotel is a bit hidden from the main streets of Seoul, but that's what makes it a bit charming. Everything is kept very clean, the bed is very comfortable, rooms are modern, and the breakfast is simple, but delicious. The location of the hotel is great too! Very close to Insadong; maybe about a 2 min walk away.
Nightlife Tip : The later it gets, the busier the street life is! Excellent street food during the day, but even more food is available around midnight! :D

Good service plus central, quiet, clean, and comfortable
Prefer smaller tables-for-two at breakfast - we don't enjoy making small talk with strangers at the start of the day!
Our online search and booking were smooth. The Doulos Hotel was easier for us to find than other reviewers suggested, and easiest of all if using exits 14/15 from the Subway Line 1 section of Jongno 3 station. Staff welcome and check-in were quick and indicative of very good standards of service. The room was of quality finish and furnishing, very clean, quiet, comfortable (in that the bed was a good sleeping bed for us) with the plus being a large bathroom including bath tub, off-setting the fact that the bedroom area was not spacious (tho not cramped either). Breakfast was better than adequate, a broad range of western and some Korean food, with the unexpected bonus a gently replaying DVD of a light classics concert on the dining area's big screen!
Restaurant Tip : Doulos handy to a large range of Korean and other restaurants, our favourites definitely the 'back street' Korean restaurants filled with 'locals'.

Hotel facilities are modern and well maintained. Breakfast was very good. Guests can walk to a number of restaurants and coffee shops on Jongno Sam-ga, a major commercial street nearby.
Rooms are small. The hotel is hidden in an alley and hard to find.
If you want to stay in a central location, this hotel is ideal as it is located near a major subway stop. Free Internet service was easy to access. The staff is very polite and ready to help with any request. The lobby, hallways and rooms are very modern. Overall space is small, yet the hotel is comfortable.

EXCELLENT LOCATION (once you find it). Central to everything. Rooms are fine. Service is great. Nice and quiet, but upscale. Internet in room. Breakfast is acceptable.
Very hard to find initially (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HOTEL PHONE NUMBER TO GIVE TO YOUR TAXI DRIVER).
Next time I come back to Korea, I will have no hesitations in staying here again. Was reasonably priced. Very close to an airport shuttle stop-off. Very close to MRT and great weaking area.
Hotel Feature Tip : Make sure to use airport shuttle. Be aware rooms here are small (like much of Asia). Have hotel phone number on you. If you are going to visit Pamunjam, book early!

an excellent hotel - clean and with good quality facilities with an ideal location close to jungno 3(sam)-ga mtr station. the staff were very friendly and helpful and made it very easy to book a tour of the demilitarised zone. there is also a self-service laundry if you need it.
admittedly my room was a tad small with not much in the way of storage for suits etc! also, the breakfast, while prerfectly adequate, finished at 9am. perhaps it could be extended to 10 am as not everyone likes to get up at the crack of dawn. otherwise, no real complaints as such. a top place!
this hotel is great and i highly recommend it to anyone visiting seoul for either business or pleasure. i was there for work and the hotel's close proximity to jungno 3(sam)-ga metr station was a real boon. this is also a key interchange station so it makes getting around this very very large city much easier than other places (also good when giving directions to a taxi driver as all you need to do is ask for the mtr station). as far as the hotel is concerned, it's excellent. really friendly and helpful staff; good facilities; nice clean rooms; no minibar but a fridge; and pretty good value for money. i would happily stay here again. the hotel is easy to find (download the map from the hotel wesite) and the warren of tiny streets surrounding it are perfectly safe and rather amazing for a westerner to wonder around.
Travel tip : don't bother going to itaewon as it is a khazi. instead, go to hongik university, apgujeong and nearby daehango for night life.

Close to insadong
Very helpful staff
Great Breakfast is included
Small rooms
Hard to find location
We have stayed at this hotel several times, and have always enjoyed it. The hotel is difficult to find, luckily my wife has a good memory for the back alleys leading to this hotel. It's a very nice business hotel with good facilities for business. The breakfast is also very good and simple with plenty of croisants and yoghurt, etc to fill up on as well as cold cereal (more than we got at some of the 5 star places we stayed at). You also have nice concert videos playing on their movie sized screen in the breakfast room.
Being within walking distance of Insadong is fantatsic. Makes going there very easy. You're also not very far from Myeongdong as well
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Insadong is a great place to shop, have tea in traditional tea houses, and dine at some nice restaurants
