I like the hotel, as I stayed in there, felt like home, and it's not far to the shopping area. Everything is perfect, except the lobby is a little bit small.

Clean, located next to convenience store, computer/ internet fascilities at the lobby Location a 5 mins walk to subway (in snow this is bad), coming back at night walking thru the dark streets from the subway - also bad. Taxi drivers 95% of them do not know where is Hyundai Residence, but most taxi drivers have GPS so that helps We stayed here over Xmas 2009 just before the worst snow storm in Seoul history hit. We took the family room which was really compact, housekeeping was excellent in keeping our compact room clean daily. Internet and computer service at the lobby was good but beware of the long line for the computer. The hotel staff were helpful in helping me book for shows and tours. If you are looking to buy market food (seaweed, ginseng,etc) the 40yr old Jungbu market is 2 mins away. During the weekends the surrounding area (of printing shops) are all closed making it a deserted town. There are a few shops for food around the area, not as good as Myeong Dong or Insa Dong but will suffice. All in all, an interesting place to stay.
Shopping Tip : Namdaemun - Stuff in the building on the higher floors have better deals.
Lotte Mart - you can get some foodie gifts here for really cheap. Try the one at Seoul station.

This was a good base for a trip to Seoul.
Warm, comfortable and well equipped.
Great to have a washing machine. It was quite difficult to find at first. I would recommend this as a place to stay for people visiting Seoul for more than a few days. Everything you need is at hand, with a 7-11 store just downstairs. It was useful having free Internet at reception as well. The people at the counter were helpful with all the enquiries we had. A good place to stay.

Reasonably clean and conveniently located in the middle of three subway stations but of course, you have to know how to locate the hotel first. Suggestion: do not take subway to the hotel from the airport because escalators are missing in most of the subway stations. Take an airport express bus (KAL) to the Grand Ambassador Hotel and then walk to Hyundai Residence. No topping up of tea bags although requests made. Just an economical and uncosty improvement in this area will greatly improve the satisfaction of the customers on the housekeeping service. Staff in the reception and restaurant speak English well. Two 24-hour convenience shops close by, one (7-11) in the lift lobby and the other one just 10 meters to the right of the hotel. A lot of restaurant choices in the areas of Dongdaemum and Chungmuro which are both within walking distance of the hotel. A local market, Jungbu market, selling sea products is located close by and worth visiting in the morning (closed in the afternoon).

The rooms are clean and spacious, helpful frontdesk. Room was clean and spacious with basic amenities. Very comfortable, I especially liked their pillows and beds. High floor with beautiful views of Namsan and the city. Although hotel is a little tucked-in a quiet street, nevertheless it is a safe place and conveniently place within walk from subway. Excellent location - short walk across Jung Bu market to the Euljiro underground which leads you straight to Dongdaemun, <10 minutes walk to DDM Stadium line 5 and Chungmuro line 4. 7-11 at the lobby. Receptionists were accommodating and very helpful. Speaks fluent English and polite. Free internet in the lobby.
I will recommend this hotel for those budget travellers, the room rate is relatively competitive than those hotels in good location.

Clean, neat, spacious and come with a washing machine! Need to walk a distance to the subway Our stay at the Hyundai Residence have been pleasant and comfortable. The staff are helpful and the room is clean, neat and spacious... The washing machine in the room is really very useful. There are 2 convenience stores downstair which is very easy to pick up quick buys. It's great value for money!

Spacious, clean and comfortable room, kitchen and washing machine is a plus Location a bit out of the way, at least 10-15minutes walk to the nearest subway My son and I had stayed 8 nights in Hyundai Residence and through Agoda we got the best rate. The room is exactly what it is shown, clean, spacious and comfortable. The washing machine is a plus as we could do our own laundry. The view at the roof top garden is spectacular and you could see the Seoul Tower. We were given 1 day free complementry breakfast although not much of the spread but it was good. The reception staff could speak fluent English and are very patient and helpful in directing us the directions of the different subways and the places that we wanted to visit. There are 2 24-hours stores, 7-Eleven on the ground floor and the other just next to the apartment where you could get some snacks and cup noodles. Places like Myeongdong and Namdaemun could be travelled by taxi which is not costly at all around 2500-3500won. Dongdaemun and Namsan Folk Village is within walking distance approx 15-20minutes. Overrall we had a wonderful stay in Hyundai Residence and will definitely recommand to friends and relatives.

Rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable Could not control the heater and need to open a window to cool down the room. Although hotel is not in the tourist part of town but walking distance to subway and very easy to travel to anywhere.Front desk receptionists spoke good english too.Breakfast buffet has good variety of Korean and western food.The hotel is right opposite a fruits and dried food (seaweeds, cuttlefish,etc) market. Also there is a 7 eleven and a convenience store right next door.Would recommend this place to families on holiday in Seoul.
Travel tip : Walking distance to Dongaemun market( 15 mins), and 8 mins to subway.

Nice & clean room. 10 to 15 mins walk to Dongdaemum. There is a convenient store just outside the hotel. Noisy as it is situated next to road. Not a easy place to find. Hotel staffs can speak & understand english well. There are free internet service at the hotel lobby.
For those who like to buy dry foods, cooking ingredients, the wholesale wet market is just a 2 mins walk. The market sell things like dried fishes, dried shrimps, kimchi, seaweed, sauces, pepper paste, tibits, all kinds of things.
Dongdaemum is about 15 mins walk. I don't see any subway around though. But its not a problem for us as we use the taxi.
Shopping Tip : Its a must to visit the wholesale wet market if you like cooking korean food

Our family room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. House keeping should be more prompt. The house keeper keep resupplying us with two towels when there are three of us staying there. Hotel was good and value for money.What you see in the pictures of the hotel and rooms are what you get.

Although our booking did not include breakfast, we were given one complementary breakfast. The breakfast buffet has a variety of korean and western dishes such as pastries, cereals and good juices and fruits.The front desk receptionists spoke really good english too.Subways and airport bus were within walking distance too.
Travel tip : Walking distance to subway, also a 10 mins walk to catch the airport bus too.

Delivers on budget hotel in central Seoul. Clean, well serviced, friendly. None really. Great value at that price point Very clean, serviceable, friendly, centrally located. Great value. This was our first time in Seoul and Hyundai was a perfect place to stay. Staff were very helpful, spoke English, and were always kind and responsive. Our room was of a decent size, clean, and pleasant. Floors were nice and heated. We felt we had easy access to all the places and neighborhoods we wished to visit. On the whole this is a very solid option, especially for those travelling on a budget.

Fabulous location, friendly staff, 7-Eleven downstairs highly convenient. Lack of English skills and lack of knowledge/ability to respond to questions and provide suggestions/opinions. Overall good value for the price. No amenities, but rooms are adequate for people who aren't looking for 5-star accommodations. The main issues was the inabilty of the front desk staff to speak English. Seems like they have Japanese down pat but English would be an asset. They also don't have the knowledge or expertise of a hotel conceirge which can be frustrating when you are just looking for some direction.
There are only two computers, but that didn't present too much of a problem. The cleaning service became inconsistent after two weeks - something they could easily remedy.
All in all, enjoyed our stay.

* toiletries not included I found the Hyundai Residence to be exactly the sort of mid-range accommodation experienced travellers look for in capital cities: spacious rooms with all the facilities; great showers; comfy beds and friendly & helpful staff at reception. Recommended!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : From Seoul-Incheon Airport, it's best to get to the Hotel by using the KAL Limousine bus (line 2), which stops at the Grand Ambassador Hotel. If travelling light, Hyundai Residence is a 10 minute walk from there. If not, you can get a taxi for the short hop.
Hyundai Residence is only 10 minutes away from Dongdaemun Market, one of Seoul's vastest and more colourful. You can eat "al fresco" with the locals at colourful stalls under two arched arcades there: a very memorable experience reminiscent of Djema El Fnaa Square in Marrakech!
