An authentic, relaxing stay
The historical style building with modern style amenities like wifi, the friendly owner, and the fabulous location
9.3
This guesthouse is in a traditional Korean hanok building with warm ondol floors and traditional bedding. It is an amazing cultural experience. Mr.Lee, the owner, is so friendly and welcoming that you won't feel homesick. The location is also very central and convenient. I highly recommend this guesthouse.

Friendly and International
Chance to meet and converse with international travelers and the host, central location, chance to experience a traditional Korean house
8.3
This is a traditional Korean house with heated floor and a central court yard, but shared bathrooms. The owners (a couple) are very friendly; the husband's English is excellent. The breakfast is in the living room, which allows a chance to meet and talk with other international travelers. For example, I had very nice conversations with Japanese and Swede guests and the Korean host in a family environment. The location is excellent; it is only a street away from Insadong, where there are many restaurants, shops, and street performers. It is also walking distance to palaces.

Namhyundang Hanok is in a great location
Friendly staff, great location, nice comfortable room
8.7
We had a good time staying at Namhyundang hanok. When we arrived there was a couple with a crying 2 years old which I was worried about since the wall isn't very sound proof. But the baby didn't cry for long. I think once Mr. Lee added additional bathrooms to the place so that each unit would have its own bathroom it would be a lot more convenient for the guests. Right now there are two bathrooms to be shared among the 5 guest rooms, while I have never had to wait for long to access the bathroom, I did find myself waking up early to avoid the morning rush.
Mr. Lee and his sister who run the place were both very nice and they provided suggestions during our visit .
There are yogurts, hard boiled eggs, toasts, jam and cereals for breakfast (milk too). Mr. Lee serves breakfast between 8:30 to 9AM. If you skip breakfast he will insists on giving you can of green tea to go.
If you stay with him, take his business card and show that to the taxi driver, it will be easier for them to find the location.

Great place to try out Korea's traditional hangul
Friendly host, great location, comfortable

Everything is great, beware of the wifi and construction and school behind the house, so if you plan to sleep late during weekdays, it's hard.

relaxing and convenient
the owner was so friendly and helpful
8.3
This is a traditional Hanok. It is simple, but very comfortable. I live in the Seoul area, but chose to stay here for a night to be right in the city. It was quiet and relaxing. The bed was comfortable, and I had a very relaxing time. The breakfast was basic but filling. The owner is really, really nice. After breakfast, he drove me to a nearby jimjilbang so I could relax even more, and he is very helpful to point you in any direction. I would (and probably will) stay here again.

Great Hanok Experience
Central location, style of accomodation, Owner
8.7
The Hanok (a traditional korean house) is perfectly located in Seoul Center.
From there, you can reach every single Tourist attraction by feet, also restaurants and convienience stores are very close.
But definetly the best thing besides the whole style of the Hanok is its owner.
A friendly architect, who takes his with you, shares his breakfast and speaks several different languages!
It is an Homestay-accomodation, so you will have to share the living and of course the toilet facilities with other guests and the owner.
But...this is usually no big deal and furthermore one part of the experience to stay at such a nice place!
If you are looking for a different experience than a hotel...book it, you will enjoy it!

Good Experience to stay in a traditional house
experience to stay in hanok, near the palaces, free breakfast
8
The owners are friendly, although the rooms are really really small. It's best to call the owners when you are in Anguk or Jong no 3 station so they can meet you outside of the school since the hanok is located in a small alley beside a school. Don't forget to ask for their secret back door keys before going out otherwise the owner may forget to provide you with one and end up waiting outside the gate for a long time(just like what happened to us).

Located near attractions, Friendly Staff, Traditional Experience
9.3
This was a great place to stay! I took the bus to the hotel and the owner was waiting for me at the bus stop. It was clean, affordable and right in the heart of two great neighborhoods.Traditional Korean house experience (sleeping on a mat on the floor) was actually very comfortable and it was nice talking to the other travelers at breakfast in the morning. Overall a great experience!!

Interesting experience for hanok
Friendly owner, traditional, exotic

The owner is very friendly and helpful. He even drove to me the next hostel on my way after spending the night. The hanok is a hundred year old one. It is a exotic experience quite different from a normal hotel stay.
