Cheap and cheerful
Good location, close to Insadong shopping street & excellent price.

Although the hotel was initially a bit difficult to find, once there, our stay was a pleasant one. The staff were helpful and polite. The room had a fridge, (Giant!) TV, kettle, PC (with Internet) and a comfortable bed. For the price we paid, we were very satisfied with what we got for our money. I would recommend this hotel to anyone not looking to pay over the odds for a well located budget hotel.

I was given a ground floor room which was not ideal as the window was very small. Also there were old blood stains on the blanket and sheets. The bathroom needs a good scrub (as with most in Korea) They have centralized heating in the building which in uncomfortable if you don't like it hot.

I chose this hotel mainly for the location, and as far as the tourist's sites go, it couldn't be much better. Close to many restaurants too. The only issue is that it isn't that easy to find

Nice place in the middle of Insadong

The location is great! Right in the Heart of Insadong. Meters away from Insadong's famous "Antique Street." Accessible to many subway lines and some major attractions are in walking distance, such as Gyeongbokgung. Price is very reasonable, and there are countless places to dine.
Travel tip:
When searching for the location on google maps, the Hotel is opposite side of the street of what is shown.

No-frills old motel in great location

The Saerim Motel has clean, functional rooms, but is old and run-down. It's the kind of place you'd expect to find down a random alleyway with a sign pointing to it saying "MOTEL." It's inexpensive, and very conveniently located in the middle of Insadong, close to the subway, tourist sites, and the airport bus. The rooms themselves are clean, but everything outside of them (carpeting, paint, etc.) is a bit icky and run-down.
There was no wifi on my floor(4th floor), and at first the in-room computer was not working, which was a bit difficult to communicate to the young guy at the desk. We got back to our room around midnight and he was still at the desk, so he came up with us and took a look and brought in a replacement computer. The computer was ancient and the keyboard a bit sticky - worked well enough for web browsing, but I would have preferred using the wifi on my own device.
Also, take care not to look the inner door to your bedroom. If you lock this, your room key will not open it, and you need to get the young guy to come open it up for you.
I liked the heated floors in the bedroom and the gigantic wall-mounted TV.
In short, it's an inexpensive, no-frills option in a very convenient location. Next time I might spend a touch more for a less run-down place though.
