Lovely hotel but only for Germans!

We booked this hotel for the first time through Agoda.com and having paid fully in advance we booked two suites with an all inclusive meal plan. Unfortunately, on our arrival we were told that there were no available suites and we were given just standard rooms (though the staff claimed that our rooms were 'superior', we did see other superior rooms on our way in and out and our rooms certainly weren't superior, just standard). There was no refund provided as the hotels rates of suites and that we had paid to agoda were very different (ours being the lower one). Quiet a sour note to begin our stay.
This is primarily a hotel targeted for just German tourists as nearly 95% of the residents were Germans. We were the only Asian family there (apart from the local staff) during our stay which we found very strange. The hotel isn't promoted internationally which is why it is unheard of compared to others nearby. It's quiet a shame really since it is quiet a lovely hotel and we wish that it would be more welcoming to tourists from other nationalities. All information such as a welcome note, brochures/notices, flyers, 'instructions to sleep' are in German and you need to request for English copies many times. The Auyrveda center also has everything in German and even though we wanted to avail their services, nobody was there to assist us in providing information in English. Very strange since the country we were in was SRI LANKA. The hotel has two restaurants, one Ayurveda and the other common one offering international cuisines. We were satisfied with both restaurants and their services.
We stayed there for two days as we had to travel to other cities. It is a good hotel which tries to lives up to its apparent five star standard and very helpful staff. The biggest drawback is the very 'German' management of the hotel making non-German speakers uncomfortable. We would not go back as obviously other nationalities and a particular language speaking crowd is preferred.
Travel tip:
So, unless you can speak/read German, I would suggest you skip the Lanka Princess as there are many many other similar hotels in close proximity which would be more welcoming to all nationalities.

2013年2月7日我们从科伦坡机场到达贵酒店，由于在预定酒店时出现一些误会，导致入住时有些小麻烦，但马上得到解决。本来小孩子是不可以入住该酒店的，但是酒店看到我们到达时已经很晚，非常人性化的为我们安排了房间。前台服务也非常好，一次很好的体验，下一次有机会还回来。感谢酒店的卡片，我儿子很喜欢。
