Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.
We want you to pay the lowest possible rate for your room. Lihiniya Surf Hotel Bentota Info
Located on the beach with the Indian Ocean just yards away, this hotel is small but comfortable with activities in the hotel and the surrounding town. Nearby is the wonderful Elephant Orphanage and the inspiring if not tiring Sigirya Rock which has close to 1200 steps. The Sinharaja Rain Forest is one of the few remaining natural rainforests on the island, and a trip there could be arranged. The lovely town of Bentota wraps around the hotel and has lots of shops of handicrafts and local items. Staying at this lovely hotel, guests should definitely take a leisurely stroll on the widest beach on the island.

* Easy access to nice beach
* Cheap WiFi
* Run-down buildings - e.g. leaking toilet cistern and shower handle that falls off
* Inability to charge bar/meals to room - must pay cash
I stayed at the Lihiniya Surf Hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is located on a nice strip of Bentota beach. Overall the building is run-down, but the staff are friendly and helpful.

Right on the beach with view from all rooms
Squirrels knocking on balcony patio door in the morning
Long stretches of beach nearby going on for miles.
Nearby town within walking distance (5 mins)with supermarket and range of eateries.
Bentota Railway on your doorstep.
Excellent availability of Triwheelers and taxis if necessary.
Half-way down the coast between Colombo and Galle
Rooms are well equiped with biggish mini-bar fridge for your own supplies. Hotel food and beverage prices reasonable if you are not on a full-board basis. Staff were very pleasant and not intrusive. Very reasonably priced laundry service compared to the more luxurious hotels around.
Reasonable food quality but nothing very special.
Quite alot of flies (Monsoon Season). Can be some mosquitos but staff do go around with insecticide spray in the evenings. Hot water availability variable (or maybe this was because of cloudy skies during rainy season !. We did find the floor quite sandy on arrival. Must not have been swept properly after the last guests. However being on the beach, keeping sand out of the rooms is difficult. The closeness of the railway tracts might annoy some but with the air con on you don't really hear the trains.
A very reasonably priced hotel, superbly located with well equiped rooms where everything works. They do have three pin round plugs by the way. Good fridge, clean towels and bed linen, toileteries added frequently, lovely balcony if on the first floor or direct patio access to the beach on the ground floor. Beach is wonderful and in the evenings there is the nearby town of Aluthgama where you can get anything. Plenty of Ayurvedic treatment centers around. Great possibilities to explore surrounding countryside and waterways or even go south by rail or road. Quite a transport hub in Aluthgama. Hotel is great value, all you really need and sea, sand and sun galore, with even the odd elephant on the beach for the tourists.Staff are very pleasant. The manager could be more smiling though and learn something from his own staff about being welcoming ! No problem whatsoever recommending this hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Try a triwheeler trip south. Great views and very reasonable. Went to Unawatuna for 2000 Rs return.
Bring a hat and scarf.
