Good rooms, fantastic food, great location. Can't ask for better in Sri Lanka.
(1) Not a budget hotel. The hotel offers good value for money, but if you're looking for cheap, look elsewhere. (2) You have to pay for Internet access.
I've been using this hotel since 1990, through it's transition from the Oberoi to Colombo Plaza to the Cinnamon Grand. It has only improved with time. Some of the best musicians in Sri Lanka can be heard in the lobby coffee shop. Definitely worth staying at. I'll certainly keep going back.
Shopping Tip : There's a nice mall next door to the hotel as well as others within a 10-15 min auto rickshaw ride (SLR 100-150). The Mall next door -- Crescat -- also has a food court, grocery store and pharmacy in the basement.

View, quiet, service, great function centre
Makes you not want to leave
A classy way to spend the night in Colombo as the hotel district is secure with guards there is a sense of safety.
The food is great and the shopping centre next door means you don't really have to leave the a/c for more than 30 seconds, everything at your fingertips. Not just a swimming pool but a man made lagoon too!
Travel tip : This hotel is great if you want to lap up your time in luxury
you will however miss the fun there is to be had in town I'd you spend all your time here

Great pool, abundance of meeting tables, warm reception.
Food Variety needs improvement.
I Stayed 1 week at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel. It lives up to its expectation as a 5 star hotel. I have no comments in general but hope there could be improvement in the F&B sector. The food is great but you will be staring at the same breakfast menu everyday. The only difference is probably the curry section where they alternate between chicken, mutton or beef.
