Basic but adequate

i was only in colombo for a few days to watch the cricket and just needed somewhere to sleep in the evening, so this hotel served its purpose.
the reception was on the third floor, which seemed a little odd, but there was ongoing construction work during my stay, which may be the reason for this.

Additionally the hotel was disgusting with cock roaches in the bathroom. The showers would not drain as the actual drains were blocked with years of human hairs and other filth.
Despite asking to move i was put in a hotel next to the hotel laundry which had noisy machines running all night and a telephone constantly ringing but never answered.

Great Location but small rooms...

i had a late checked in and i found that my room was alloted to somebody...staff were not cordial, breakfast was not at all good...i could notice hygenic issue due to open space. rooms very small, i refused an additional blanket for my child...not worth it to stay, its expensive as well, no wifi....except the cenrtal location.

Outside the hotel looks nice but this is more tourist hotel than business. The recep desk is just a desk. not so much of a reception. They even forgot to arrnage my airport pick up despite my calling. The music of the hallway is indeed from the radio and it does get annoying when you want some peace and quiet. The hotel carpet seemed not clean. NO complementary water. Chargeable wifi in the room. Not a good place to stay over the weekend as surrouding area is dull.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
A bit near the hotel is the Galle face hotel. Walk towards another direction and you'll find yourself in a wholesalers market. Other than that, not so much places to eat.

Enjoyed the stay..a nice roof-top hotel, good menu, and friendly service...I could return a warm beer and not be charged for it..
Shopping Tip:
Do go to Kandy, a three hours (one way) train journey from Colombo..Kandy has a beautiful temple/museum compled, worth visiting..

Great location and service but a little old room

I was satisfied with good location, but not with the balance among cost, the old and the location.
The total cost was including service charge.
Good points were well-designed interior of the room and the cleanliness. The quality of hotel staff service were also good.
Regarding bad points, the bathroom smelled a little bad. And, there was some couches in front of my room and guests can smoke there. I minded the smell of smoking even in my room.

We went to Sri Lanka for our honeymoon, after coming back from Trincomalee we had to unfortunately stay in this hotel as all the good hotels in Colombo were fully booked. The lift of the hotel smells weird, loud music is playing in the hotel's corridors all the time. And as it is right on the road you have to wake up early beacause of the noise of the traffic. The rooms are not even sound proof, you can hear everything happening in the next room. And there's a door in the room which is connected to the other room. The staff is not helpful at all. The phone line broke the day we checked in the hotel and we had to go to the reception to ask for things. They repaired the phone line the next day. If you order food through room service, then they take atleast 1 hour. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Old but Comfortable

This Hotel is an old building which is under renovation. Looks good from outside. The location is perfect. Walkable distance to the beach and just adjusent to the Old Dutch Hospital Building which has lot of good eateries and shopping places.
The hotel pricing is fixed as per their star and catagory by the govt. of Srilanka so I found it very strange.
The interior of rooms are old but not bad. Bed are OK. Washroom OK. Breakfast had not much variety and not so good taste too.
Though staff were helpful and good.
I had an Mixed feeling about my 2 nights there.
Restaurant Tip:
Must Try.. The Crab Ministry. Just next to hotel building inside the Old Dutch Hospital building. You dont go there you missing the best crab eatery of this World.

Mediocre hotel in very good location in Colombo

The hotel was being renovated when I stayed but the room was comfortable and the restaurant and bar was ok.
The best thing about this hotel is definitely the location. It is directly over the road from the Hilton and the world trade centre towers. It's 3 minutes walk from Galle Face Green.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Take a walk down the seafront down Galle Face Green. See the locals enjoying their leisure time and instantly get a flavour of Sri Lanka and it's people.

good spot close to rail and bus hubs but rooms are a bit musty and there was building work going on, from 7am... Colombo is an expensive place to stay but there is probably better value to be found than this place. Rooftop bar and restaurant is good though
