Good starting point for Colombo and beyond
Good location for short Colombo stay, great eateries next door

Practical mid-priced location. Ideal for short stays because of proximity to the Fort Railway Station and short hop bu tuk-tuk to get around Colombo. Being less than an hour from the airport by taxi is also a plus.
Restaurant Tip:
Right next door there is a courtyard with various, but equally nice cuisine if you wnat to treat yourself

Good Location but not good rooms

Hotel Feature Tip:
Go to one of the other nicer hotels...this is a last option.

Overpriced rip-off

For a start when making the booking I ticked one person instead of two. It should have not made any difference with the price however we were charged a further $75 Aud. Breakfast was basic. The room was a nice size ....the tiles on the floor were shocking there were chips all over... The rooms were shabby.
Outside our door they had stacked all their mattresses.
The lift carpets were torn and the lift even had a bad smell. Sorry I would NOT stay in this hotel again. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE.
The location had nothing going for it. No shops etc. Every evening we would walk down to the beach where all the locals congregated [that would give the location one point]. Sorry
nothing else in its favour.

This hotel would be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in Asia.
The room was old, dirty, smelly, mouldy, and that is just listing the good points.
The restaurant/dining area was just more of the same. Do not include breakfast in your booking - eat out.
Even the lift was a disgrace.
We would have moved if we were going to be there for more that two nights, first night after very late arrival, and then leaving early second morning. Any longer and we would not have stayed past first night.
Only good point, was the location.
Shopping Tip:
old dutch hospital next door had some interesting shops.

location was good. room was smelly and the walls were mouldy and black around airconditioner... really it needs to be repainted and refurbished. for USD100/night it is overpriced.
wifi should also be free!!
the lifts were dirty and carpets had holes in them.

good food places and souvenir shop

Extremely disappointing

Very dirty lift.
Hygiene poor in restaurant.
We had a room on 4th floor - very noisy in the middle of the night due to rearranging furniture in the restaurant above. Noise so bad we had to demand a move to another floor at midnight.
Hotel is just not geared to western tourist expectations.
We read previous negative advice and did not heed it, to our cost.
Would not recommend this hotel under any circumstances.
Travel tip:
Pay a bit more and find somewhere else.

we had stayed in this hotel 3 weeks previously and had a very small room. on our return we requested a better room, the staf were really pleasant and they provided us with one of the renovated rooms, which was bigger brighter and very comfortable.
