This was my second time staying at the Galle Face thought the last time was a decade ago. If you can get over the very variable service and attitude from staff and rather decrepit rooms, the age-old experience at this hotel, quirky Victoriana signage, great breakfast buffet and unparalleled location on the water and the green make it a real gem. You'll need a set of very good ear plugs if your room faces Galle Road as ours did. Not all rooms have a view of the green or water - these are far preferable and it seems like some Classic Wing standard rooms do face the green. This hotel is not for everyone, but I'll always stop in when in Colombo!
