From the coast and city views to the crisp and comfortable room, this accommodation is well worth the price. The only down-side is that the food is not quite up to Hilton standards, particularly in the evening, which is also a very noisy experience due to a band which plays too loudly for the confined space.
The staff here were very prompt and pleasant yet ineffectual in addressing the problem of six foreign children who ran about uncontrolled in the restaurant, and shouted in the corridors. Unfortunately they were on our floor. Their parents made little effort to restrain these kids although it was obvious they were annoying several other guests. Staff promised a solution but did nothing . Very disappointing.

Nice place to stay a couple of days to make Colombo. Good service and alert staff. But.... There effect to make your stay perfect made our last nights not so good. The staff keept calling us several times despite we made sure that we dont want to be disturbed in the evening.
The staff needs to better understund specific customer requirements.

Room is very big! The view is not as good as others in the same area. Facility is very good and u can cook.
They let us wait for half hour to get our room when we arrive at 4pm. The staff was friendly.

We stayed 4 nights here to finish off our 2 weeks cycling tour of Sri-Lanka. I loved hotel, but Colombo itself is boring and was a real let-down after our tour of SL. The hotel is a bit further away from the main ones (like the other Hilton) but it only took a tuk-tuk ride costing 200 rupees to get to the main shopping area we used near the Old Dutch Hospital. We love our space and this hotel fits the bill. It was "huge", a nice change from some of the other hotels we had been in. My estimate would be 15sq. with a fantastic view of the water and sunset. The staff are very helpful. On arrival they said we hadn't booked for breakfast, but our Agoda receipt showed we did - no big argument they just said "we'll sort it out, don't worry" and they did quietly sort it out, we weren't double billed. The washing machine malfunctioned (wear and tear on the door handle which snapped off) and the service man was there in minutes to fix it, again no dramas. We organised with a private sedan taxi driver to get a lift to the airport (an hours drive) - he turned up in a tuk-tuk (deceptive to say the least). I paid him 200 rph to go away. The bell boy promptly rang a taxi for me (in fact he rang 2 services to get the quickest one - the hotel taxi costs nearly double as is the norm for most hotels, so we weren't forced to use theirs) - just wonderful customer service. Arrived late for brekky and was given a bowl of freshly cut fruit from the chef. Room was cleaned properly and thoroughly each day, there is an air conditioner in each room (this is a big plus), the tv works unlike many we had seen, the couches are comfortable, the beds were divine to sleep on, (extra pillows, slippers & bath robe provided) and again - so much room, I so hate being stuck on top of each other. My only complaint would be the bath/shower, as it is high to step into, a handle on the wall for OHS purposes to facilitate stepping into and out of wouldn't go astray, I'm very fit, but I'm no gymnast
Shopping Tip:
If you plan to buy souvenirs, go to the govt. souvenir shop, you won't get hassled and the prices are about the same if you had haggled. The souvenir shop at the Dutch hospital was also a peaceful place to shop, you can touch and feel good without the constant hassling you get in a market. I brought t-shirts for 1100 rph and the market wanted 1500 rph for inferior quality T's, plus nice customer service. At the market, they're really aggressive. We reached a price of 3000 for 2 T's - I gave him the money then he demanded another 500. When I went to call off the sale and get my money back he snatched the money away demanding another 500. Nobody needs this, stay away, it's not worth the stress. The top eatery is definitely Semondu -wow stylish food and presentation.
