Rooms were spacious and decorated to fit the area. Service was excellent and staff very attentive to needs. View was exceptional especially with the monkeys coming right onto the balcony. Especially liked the exposed shower/spa that was in each room. Food was extremely tasty and had a mix of cultural and other foods to please any appetite Don't have any to speak of I felt from the location and entry to this wonderful facility it is a not to be missed experience. Hotel is ideally located to the Sigiriya Rock Temple and to other local scenes. Rooms and staff were very accommodating to our requests and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was superb. Hotel is very open aired and despite its 15 years of age, looked well kept and modern in design. Fitness facilities,for those of us that look for this, was very well equipped.

walking in is awe-inspiring - the use of natural materials juxtaposed with simple plastered walls is simple yet breathtaking. The views are phenomenal from every point of the hotel - truly one to be experienced from every corner of the property. The infinity pool at dusk is a true gem. the food is a little expensive if you are not on a meal plan and given that you are in the middle of nowhere, alternate arrangements are hard to come by Kandalama was our first stop on our trip to Sri Lanka. The arrival at the hotel was wonderful - we sat down facing the lake where all check-in formalities were carried out. We were then shown to our room which was simply breathtaking - a clear view of the sigiriya rock and a bathroom with clear windows looking out into the vast expanse. Nature abounds you at the hotel - both around the lake (wonderful for a walk) or even at the infinity pool - one of three at the property. The only drawback to a wonderful trip here was the exhorbitantly priced food (relative to sri lanka and indeed, other 5 star properties). Since we were on a B
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Dambulla caves and just driving / bicycling around is incredible. You really are in the middle of nowhere and the calm around you is amazing.

The sights around Sigiriya are great.
Hotel Feature Tip : Almost everyone who visits Sri Lanka is subjected to credit card fraud. Keep an eye on your accounts and be ready to see that someone in Sri Lanka has just gone a spending spree with your card. I am not sure which hotel used my card, but it was a hotel charge.

For us who have travelled worldwide the hotel was not one we would chose again as it had no ambience and the restaurant and service very average. Good place to visit but not to stay.
