very near the landmark Cave Temple

place is rather hard to lcate. if not for a pte hire driver, may have difficulty getting there on our own. room is well equipped with ac, fan, mosquito prevention stuff, and is also spacious. but not well lit and the power supply is slightly cranky.

The hotels location is a bit off. It is located outside Dambulla and there are no Tuk Tuk outside the hotel so you must order a Tuk Tuk from the hotel. When we where staying there it seems as we where the only guests at the hotel. So we had breakfast and dinner in a big restaurant for our own. It was good that we could rent a car and driver from the hotel during a day to go to Sigiraya and the caves. One night in Dambulla is enought to see the caves and Sigiraya. Unfourtunately the AC was not working.

The worst place we stayed at in Sri Lanka

We booked three nights here, but left after 1 night. I'm sorry to say it was truly awful.
The room first appeared to be a windowless cell, then it turned out to have a small milk glass window after all. Low ceiling, very dark.
The first thing that greeted us in the room was a cockroach on the bathroom towels. Then another one beneath the pillow. Later yet another one under the bed. The pillow covers apparently hadn't been changed -- probably somebody had swatted a mosquito with it. There were used glasses and an empty water bottle in the room when we got there.
On the plus side, the staff were very nice. Also they waived the penalty when we left after 1 night. They could have charged us two nights but chose not to (although that took an intervention from agoda.com). We're still grateful for that. They tried to make up for our bad experience by serving us a nice breakfast in the wedding hall, which was a nice gesture.
I still wouldn't recommend the place.

Nous avions réservé 3 nuits dans cet hôtel qui semblait plutôt bien. Quelle déception! aucun accueil ni de conseils. des plats servis froids, une équipe qui ne parle pas un mot anglais, un hôtel sans touriste ou seuls des Sri Lankais faisaient du bruit toute la nuit. Notre guide ne connaissait pas l'endroit et il a vite compris pourquoi! Pour être honnête ils ne méritent aucun commentaire positif et pour reprendre les propos de notre guite:"il donnent une mauvaise image du tourisme Sri Lankais, surtout si l'on commence le séjour par cet hôtel."

this was a good place to relax after 2 hours road from negambo and 5 hours time shift.
this has to be reached at daylight ! not so easy at night !

We stayed at Regalia Hotel for 1 night. Next to the hotel is a big building site as they are currently building another part of the hotel. It was fine at night time but it is a bit disturbing during the day. Our room was small and a bit dark but fairly clean for Sri Lankan standard. There was a nice pool, however it could be kept a bit cleaner. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and while they tried extremely hard to please us unfortunately staff needs a bit more training. They want to do well but don't quite know how yet. The taste of the food was good but it was cold by the time it reached our table. Overall Regalia Hotel has potential and could be a lot better once the construction is finished and staff are better trained to serve European clientele.

Peu de monde - 4 personnes avec nous 2 - , personnel très froid et lent, environnement un peu glauque (gravats à coté, etc...), manager très humilient envers le driver qui nous accompagnait (il ne lui a donné que du pain pour le repas du soir !!!)
Par contre une chouette piscine et des bungalows avec eau chaude et air conditionné, soit pour une nuit cela peut le faire si on tient à avoir une piscine pour pas trop cher.
