nice location but Noisy
modern hotel and functional design,good food,clean rooms.

3 weekends dayes are very noisy when hosting non guist parties untilke mid night so no early sleep.a few small ants in the rooms.rooms are not sound insulated.
Travel tip:
ask for 4th floor rooms in the southern part.

Great value for money

The hotel was really great, and it delivered on all aspects. The location was good; as soon as you step out, you come across interesting handicraft and clothing stores, as well as the best restaurants renowned for its seafood.Galle is about a half an hour's ride on the Tuk Tuk. Rooms were well designed and catered to all our needs. They were well maintained. The beach was awesome as well, clean and not too crowded. Hikkaduwa is essentially not as commercial as Galle and a few other beach towns,so this can be a plus point for some. It also has the best coral around, which we saw while snorkelling in the sea. If anything, then I'd say the hotel is short on offering activities to its guests, but we were quite happy with everything. Most of the rooms have a balcony facing sea front, which was most definitely the best part about the trip.
Restaurant Tip:
Apparently, Refresh, right next door, is renowned all over Sri Lanka for its great sea food.

The hotel was fantastic, the location was fabulous right on the calm side of the beach with amazing snorkeling at the coral reef just down the beach and huge sea turtles right at the beach front. Rooms are spacious and nice with great views and the area is safe and loaded with great places to eat and drink if you wanna get out of the hotel. The hotel pool and food is great and our overall experience was excellent - would certainly go back!

The Chaaya Tranz is an excellent hotel with well maintained rooms, friendly staff and good food. Also it is filled with tourists and local guests and you don't feel alone. The sea view from the rooms are breathtaking and a walk along the beach at a moonlit night is a must.

We got a really cheap deal. The room was spacious & colourful. Excellent balcony with sea view & sofa. Great location. Resident sea turtle. Nice restaurants. Would definitely go back. Lift did break down with my friend in it. And staff were rude in Sinhala when we asked them to open shop, expecting us nit to understand.

I arrived by tuktuk and railway from Columbo. Very easy to find and close to Hikkaduwo town. The view from the balcony is relaxing and very nice. The hotel is very clean. The spezial price was appropriate to the room. Its no guesthouse in price but offers good facilities and also families a very good and save stay.
Restaurant Tip:
Sunday brunch is very good.

we loved this hotel. it reminded us a bit of barcelona. the service was impeccable and the rooms were very nice. i can only wish we had been able to stay longer at this hotel as we were delayed from arriving by the tsunami warning that day. the dinner and breakfast buffets were bountiful with many stations both in and outdoors. it was in a great location right on the beach with a beautiful sunset. would definitely stay here for a great getaway.
