Lots of Promise, not completely Fulfilled.
Best dolphin watching of our tour.

for our last 5 night stay of a six week tour of sri lanka we felt we'd earned some 5 star luxury even though dolphin beach resort was by far our most expensive stop. quite isolated, it is set in some beautiful surroundings; guest numbers are small; the 'tents' are quirky and comfortable but with little storage space; the beach, not private, is swept and kept tidy by staff and there is little of the pestering that you can suffer in busier resort areas. indeed, meeting the local fishermen as they landed their nets or spread the catch to sun dry was part of the fun. no one was swimming from the beach and the sea conditions put us of, too, so it is good that guests can walk along the beach and use a neighbouring resort pool.
there's plenty of wildlife to watch or photograph and our morning dolphin watching trip was a spectacular. very pleased to see that the other boats, all but three, were not tourists but fishermen hand-lining with spinners weaving among them in seemingly peaceful co-existence. full marks to our skipper for his knack of anticipating the pods' movements and putting us on the spot for them to come to us.
although all staff were happy and helpful, service was disappointingly inefficient- it could take several requests over a couple of hours to get a pot of tea! meals were a bit problematic as well since the 'a la carte' was largely unavailable and we were limited to the 'specials'. we did not travel to sri lanka to enjoy 'italian evening'. it was also tiresome, after three nights explaining that we do not eat meat, to be told that we were really in for a treat with 'tonight's special chicken...'!
it is not as peaceful here as we'd hoped, either. the area is under development and there is a coal-fired power station nearby and several wind turbines being erected, with the inevitable noise and traffic from this passing the resort.
there was a caretaker manager at the time of our stay, putting together a plan to bring the place up to scratch.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The Wi-Fi isn't free. Make sure your mobile 'phone is unlocked before you travel, buy a local SIM card on arrival and access internet through this. It is remarkably cheap and coverage is great nationally.

周りには何もなく、ホテルでくつろぐだけ。ただしホテルというよりは
高級テントなので、一日中海を見て寝てるような感じ。
イルカや、鯨は波が高く出向できず。
現在シーズンオフ１１月から１月ぐらいがべストのこと。
食事は朝食のみのつもりが、３食ついてました。
だって他に食事できる場所ないですから。市内観光に連れて行ってもらいました
が、協会と漁港のみでした
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
何もない、１日海岸近くのベットに揺られて寝てました。
現地の漁師さんが水揚げした魚をみたり、ひたすらボーっと。
それしかすることないです。

발리나 몰디브에서 볼수 있는 친자연적인 리조트 환경을 추구한 것으로 보임. 식사는 대단히 간결함. 조식/석식 뷔페는 공히 5종류 이내의 음식임.(석식시엔 추가로 바베큐나 피자를 주문할 수 있었음). 주변에 풍력 발전시설이 있어서 민감한 사람들은 밤새 윙윙거리는 소리를 들을 수 있음. 5월 이후에는 풍랑으로인해 돌고래구경하는 배가 뜨지 않음. 수영장이 없음(인근 '바 리프 리조트'의 수영장을 이용할 수 있다고 함.). 해변은 모래사장이 아주 짧음. 전체적으로 황량한 느낌임. 총 10개 내외의 텐트형 객실이 있었으며, 잠금장치가 없이 지퍼로 문을 닫을 수 있음.(객실내 금고는 준비돼있음).
