Beautiful colonial style building set in lovely grounds and well maintained garden, eager to help staff, good music in the evening.

Despite best intentions, most staffers cannot understand and follow instructions, be ready for an onslaught of flies that cover all food--the resturant is open air. Bathrooms are not renovated and flush doesnt work.

Travel tip : Go to Nuwara Eliya instead,, very beautiful and pretty place, skip Kandy. If you're into gems, buy them here rather than at Colombo. Zam gems has best quality though a little expensive, negotiate like mad, they come down 35-50%

nice grounds, beautiful colonial structure

terrible service, horrible bathrooms, flies on all buffet food all the time

We spent three days at this hotel. looked beautiful, lovely gardens to walk around there, nice boat rides etc. apart from that, food was not so great, the service was bad, and while the hotel itself ahs been renovated, the bathrooms and showers were antiquated. I would recommend it for couples etc, we saw a lovely wedding there, it was great.

Travel tip : go buy gems in kandy
