nice beach hotel that lacks in service

The service during slack season at this hotel is terrible. We had come to Mirissa to do whale watching and had organized it through the hotel. On the evening before we came to pay and they then told us it is fully booked. Luckily we were able to make our own arrangements, no thanks to the staff at the Mandara. One light and a cupboard door were broken and never got fixed , even though we asked them numerous times. The dinner service was appallingly slow, it took an hour for a ready made soup and salad to arrive. half the menu wasn't available.

Still a few teething points to sort out

This resort hotel still has a few teething problems to sort out. We were upgraded to a suite which is always a very nice welcome and whilst we found the atmosphere of the hotel is very conducive to spending time by the pool or for lovely long walks along the beach, the problems we encountered revolved around the dining area. Sadly each time we ordered food we had to wait a long time. It was worth waiting for but just take this into account before heading for a quick snack or else expecting a romantic dinner for two served at the end of a long day...
