Interesting and very welcoming place
Very clean and very basic

welcoming, helpful and caring host. the place is very basic but clean as new.
breakfast is served in the house living area so it feels more like a visit to a friend's house.
it is conveniently located close to a railway station that goes down south through galle and ends in matara.

At first glance, I wanted to stay somewhere else. But please give this place a chance. Stay one night and make up your mind then. It's only a 5 minute walk from the beach and a 10 minute walk up to the shops and restaurants. I had a lovely 2 hours just sitting on the veranda watching the chipmunks, birds I'd never seen before and lizards on the trees. It was so relaxing - which is what I wanted.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
There is a turtle conservation place along the beach. But at least 25 min walk - beyond the white hotels. You get to hold the turtles, you can leave a donation to help. And if you want to go to Yala National Park, take the train first to M......... (Forgotten name). It's as far as the train goes down south anyway, then take a bus to Thissu. Book your jeep for safari before you go, Dammika has a card I gave him.

The room is basic furnished but big with a table and facilities to hang up clothes. Very small bed for two! The bathroom looked freshly renovated and was huge! Dammika is a flexible host, serves breakfast early in the morning if you are going to a trip and welcomes guests in the middle if the night! Exceptional!! He is pleased to help with trip advices and tips what to do in Sri Lanka. Perfect location, close to beach and Fort station (ca 20 - 30 minutes by tuktuk, depending on traffic) shops, Internet cafe in walking distance.

This hotel is a local man's house converted into a few guests rooms in a residential area near the beach in Mount Lavinia. I have to say that the rooms are very basic for the price and not clean. The owner is very friendly, helpful and hospitable so it is he is a good resource if you need any advice. If you just need a budget home-stay option this place works but it would be better to book the basic room as there is no additional amenities in the "apartment" room for the extra cost.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Head to the Mount Lavinia hotel (or the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo) for a beer or cocktails and to enjoy an old-time classy setting for a few hours.

I stayed one week, and in future whenever I will get an opportunity to visit Colombo, shall stay in Damikka Home.

We booked for one night and ended up staying for 3.
Dammika is the perfect host with many interesting stories & speaks numerous languages.
If you are looking for the real Sri Lankan experience look no further.
This cheap and cheerful place is clean & tidy with the beach a 2 minute walk away & shops the same distance in the opposite direction.
I would recommend booking in advance as with only 5 rooms at the moment it gets full quickly with many people staying on to enjoy Dammika's company.
We will definitely be returning.
