Expensive hotel close to the airport

Even though the place was beautiful, and the staff were very attentive, I was a little disappointed that the hotel was not better set up for airport transfers. I had booked there with an early flight out the next morning. They could not provide a breakfast - just a breakfast pack which consisted of a juice, an apple, a boiled egg and 2 sad sausages. I would have preferred a refund on some of the tariff as they were unable to provide the breakfast that was included. The airport is about 10 mnutes away. The airport transfer, organised by the hotel was 2000 SRupees.
The meal we had that night was the most expensive but the least interesting of my whole two weeks in Sri Lanka. Considering the tariff charged, I would have expected a better meal would be served.

Nice but still something missing
close to the airport, cold towels and welcome drink at arrival

We stayed for one night only, leaving with an early morning flight. Finding this hotel might be tricky since it is on a very very small road but we thankfully had no problems. The welcome was warm and beautiful. Nevertheless we eventually became quite upset. As we were travelling with a friends family, we had wished for rooms close to each others. We arrived an hour after check-in time but the rooms weren't ready. We were told it would take 20 minutes. It took over an hour, while we had to wait in the lobby with our tired little ones. No compensation was offered despite our request.(This was our only day for getting a sight of Colombo, before darkness. We never got out on that tour...)
The rooms look great indeed but are not good at all for small children as the furniture has very sharp edges. Also the floor had sharp details. The crib we were offered was beautiful, but very high, which was useless for us due to climbing/fallingon stone floors. There was no elevator to our room, which meant that we had to carry our straller in stairs each time we went up och down.
Hence, this is probably a wonderful hotel for a family with bigger children/singles/couples as the enviroment is beautiful but for us it was just the closeness to the airport that was the big benefit.

Helpful and pleasant staff - great Lagoon view
Head waiter in restaurant very pleasant company. Great views of catamarans on the lagoon early morning as well as fabulous sunset.

large room with view, but on 3rd floor with no lift. large balcony.
bathroom a little small with shower water going everywhere. drains a bit smelly.
wifi didn't work at first but staff had it up and running quickly.
evening meal quite good but breakfast menu (apart from omelette cooked to choice) somewhat limited.
transport to airport via hotel car was speedily arranged but expensive.
main reason for choosing hotel (1 night stay) was proximity to colombo airport.

This is not a new property. It may have a new owner but it is a real mess. I have been going to SL for the past 25 years and this is the worst facility that I have been at.
Staff was all local mostly non-english speaking and could care less- I think that they were taught customer-dis-service!, they charge 3000 Rupie($25.00) for airport pick up and the property is 10 km to the airport, whereas a 40 km trip to center Colombo is 2000 rupie. Resturant was limited so I had Fish & Chips which was ok but when I asked for Malt Vinagar they did not have any!
The wi-fi is almost non-existant
I could not log on most of the time . The best download speed was 0.35 upload .20.

Nice looking but needs a litte attention

This near to airport hotel is a nice looking boutique hotel with a nice setting next to a lagoon. You'd never know it was there at the end of a most easy to miss turnoff and down a little narrow road.
Very convenient for the airport but:
There was a kettle in the room but the plug did not fit the socket and we had to stand it on something and plug it in in the bathroom.
The plunger for the sink plug got stuck and the basin could not be emptied.
The shower sprayed all over the small bathroom.
Airport transfer is expensive from this hotel (i.e. 2000 rupees for 4 mile transfer, when we paid 2350 rupees for radio cab from Colombo to the hotel - 20 miles approx, so bit of a rip off).
Restaurant Tip:
Take a tuk tuk to Negombo to eat, more choice and even factoring in transport, cheaper than eating at the hotel
