Amagi Lagoon Resort is a great choice for an overnight stay. It is very close to the airport (10 minutes). The rooms are big, nicely decorated and very clean. They have everything you might possibly need: clean, comfortable bathroom with all amenities, coffee and tea making facilities, big comfortable bed, beautiful balcony, iron and iron board, safe, bathrobes, …
The hotel is brand new and very nice with a good restaurant, a big swimming pool, comfortable sun loungers, a cozy restaurant with great food.
The staff is really very kind and helpful. They speak good English and they try to attend to every wish you might have.
The price/quality is very good.
We absolutely like to recommend this hotel to everyone who needs an overnight stay close to the airport. We think it is one of the best options you have in Sri Lanka.

Expensive hotel close to the airport

Even though the place was beautiful, and the staff were very attentive, I was a little disappointed that the hotel was not better set up for airport transfers. I had booked there with an early flight out the next morning. They could not provide a breakfast - just a breakfast pack which consisted of a juice, an apple, a boiled egg and 2 sad sausages. I would have preferred a refund on some of the tariff as they were unable to provide the breakfast that was included. The airport is about 10 mnutes away. The airport transfer, organised by the hotel was 2000 SRupees.
The meal we had that night was the most expensive but the least interesting of my whole two weeks in Sri Lanka. Considering the tariff charged, I would have expected a better meal would be served.
