In transit... Quiet & out of the way

after agreeing taxi cost 1000 Rupee ( £5 ) it was 5 minutes away from airport, is down a quiet back road off a busy through road.
Attention to detail - Bed / pillows were soft, shower room / toilet fine, no bottle opener when dying for a coke at 3am.

Good and stylish transit hotel

We staid in this hotel on our last night in Sri Lanka. We choose this hotel as it is situated only 10 minutes from the airport and we had to take an early flight home. For this purpose the hotel is ideal.
The hotel is located in a beautiful spot with a view over a lagoon. You can't swim in the lagoon but there is a nice pool with a child friendly area. The hotel staff was kind enough to borrow us a pair of inflatable armbands for our one year old daughter.
The style of the hotel is modern with a Scandinavian design touch which gives you a felling of exclusiveness. Everything is well kept and nothing is worn or torn anywhere.
Our welcome to the hotel was very good, they took our luggage and offered us some cold towels and a drink and effectively took our luggage to our room, asked us when we would like to have a transport pick us up to the airport. The rooms are of decent size and the first floor rooms have their own little outdoor area big enough to sit and eat.
The hotel is quite small and it is not a hotel you stay all day long on unless you enjoy just lying in a sunbed all day long. The hotel is ideal as a transit hotel or as a base if you wish to take excursions every day.
Every night the staff brings out tables outdoors and serves freshly grilled fish of your own choice. This creates a very romantic atmosphere and the surroundings are very good. Unfortunately the food is less than average which is a shame. Had the food been cooked well and you had had something more than rice/potato plus a choice of four vegetables this could have been very good.
In summary, this hotel is a very good place to stay for your last night in Sri Lanka with friendly staff, beautiful surroundings, well kept and modern but not a place to stay for many days.

Amagi Lagoon Resort is a great choice for an overnight stay. It is very close to the airport (10 minutes). The rooms are big, nicely decorated and very clean. They have everything you might possibly need: clean, comfortable bathroom with all amenities, coffee and tea making facilities, big comfortable bed, beautiful balcony, iron and iron board, safe, bathrobes, …
The hotel is brand new and very nice with a good restaurant, a big swimming pool, comfortable sun loungers, a cozy restaurant with great food.
The staff is really very kind and helpful. They speak good English and they try to attend to every wish you might have.
The price/quality is very good.
We absolutely like to recommend this hotel to everyone who needs an overnight stay close to the airport. We think it is one of the best options you have in Sri Lanka.
