More of a home stay than a hotel

The property is situated in a small gated community just north of Negombo town centre. Within that gated community there is a lovely swimming pool which Ivy Cottage guests may use for 150 rupees each. Ivy Cottage belongs to a retired Sri Lankan couple who speak very good English and are most accommodating. Staying there is more like being a guest in a friend's house rather than visiting a hotel. When I stayed I was the only guest. The room was immaculate with a lovely hardwood floor and a spotlessly clean bathroom. First class breakfast too. The owner arranged two tuk tuk pick ups for me. It was 800 rupees to the international airport.

Really clean room, the owner and his wife were very friendly, helped us to find a driver with a car for our trip to Sigirya and Kandy. Wifi in the room was OK. Good value for money.

The hotel is located at the private, secured territory and is run by an elderly family. They are very kind and always glad to see u and assist. The breakfast is a must-try thing. Nice and comfortable room with plenty of mosquitos, but the net over the bed and socket-powered repellent is available. The location is OK. Overall is good and welcomming. 10-15 mins walking to dining options/beach, tuk-tukers do not know where to go, u need to show them the route.

In fact, there are 2 homestays. Nickel bedroom and bathroom and well appointed, nice wooden floor.
In a quiet private residence (continental residencies). Beautiful communal swimming pool for the residence.
Home owners very considerate: a retired couple.
1 km from the beach: 100 rupee tuk-tuk. And not far from the "center".
An excellent quality / price ratio. Transit for a day or 2 in Negombo, this is perfect.

our stay at ivy cottage was fabulous. what a lovely couple! the owners were so accommodating and welcoming. our room was comfortable, clean and roomy with an adjoining bathroom. a delicious breakfast is included, and we enjoyed an evening glass of wine on their lovely patio. a tuk tuk tour of negombo was arranged by the owner and was enjoyable. we had dinner at a restaurant in town near the cottage, where we discovered some great little shops. all in all, i would highly recommend a stay at ivy cottage.
