Good value for the money

The wifi was poor.
Hotel staff kept on trying to sell things to me. I brought two bottles of water back, and the lady at the front desk loudly objected, saying, "Madam, we have water here." Yes, at twice the price outside.
The location was far from the city center, but didn't have direct beach access. However, the ocean could be seen from the balcony.
The hotel has no backup generator in case of a power outage. We were without power for an entire day.
Get the rooms with AC. Sri Lanka is too hot and humid to sleep without AC. I made the mistake of booking the room without AC. When I got there, the room had an AC, but the bellboy took the remote away. I thought that maybe the room wouldn't have AC or just a fan, but it did, and they just wouldn't let me use it. Fair, since I didn't book it, but it's a bit on the cheap side. Then again, even if your room did have an AC, it would be completely unusable in case of a power outage.
The bathroom does have a stink to it. However, the room is fairly clean and has high ceilings.

It was okay for our purpose

Stayed one night waiting for our fligt to Europe. had to pay +50% for late check out at 18:00 but I think it waough. when we came we got a room that was not good, clean tough but a BAD smell in the bathroom - all rooms to the bathroom have bad smell in bathroom. We have asked for better room on 1st floor to the ocean side - room was nice clean, bathroom okay a bit HOT tough because of the sun but AC could handle this. we were satisfied here
