Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Did not enjoy our last 2nights here, staff did not speak very good English, were not very friendly or helpful.
Was not impressed with food choice or quality of food that we did eat.
There was no blankets on the bed, so was very cold at nights, if u turned ac off it was too hot!!

My stay at Ranweli was very comfortable and relaxing. The lagoon setting was stunning. You are surrounded by nature but can relax in a comfortable setting with modern amenities.

Fantastic beach and set up, very private
great beach, quiet, nice pool, good buffets, lots to discover
8.7
The Bungalows are nicely spread out, so you do not feel how big the hotel is. Great little Mangrove boardwalk, nice buffet breakfast and dinners, nicely isolated by channel, beach very private and quiet. Rooms designed only for 3 persons, but our family of 4 managed with a few cushions on the floor. Great half open bathroom

Very much a "Rip-off the tourist" resort
3.3
Stayed 2 nights at the start of our stay and 2 nights at the end of a 4 week tour of Sri Lanka booked independently and staying in about 12 different locations. First visit was disappointing due to tired accommodation very much in need of refurbishment and very high food & drink prices (reviewed separately). On both visits the air-con unit was just blowing out hot air until asking for an engineer to fix it. Despite asking for a refurbished room for our second visit whilst departing after our first, there was apparently none available as "only their Deluxe rooms had been refurbished" and we were not willing to pay the huge extra cost demanded. The still old and tired Standard Sea View Bungalow. Maybe we could keep the cockroaches and ants infesting the room and mouldy bathroom in it?
Biggest bugbear was their food and especially drinks prices. Throughout our 4 weeks in Sri Lanka the most we ever paid for a large bottle of local beer was 500 rupees and that was at Ranweli during our first 2 days (including some fancy name hotels in Colombo and Kandy). Imagine our surprise when signing for 2 bottles at the pool bar this time round to see the price had gone up to 650 rupees each...a 30% increase!! We did not have another beer at the resort...2 minutes over on the raft ferry and Anthony's bar/restaurant provided exactly the same beer for 250 rupees.
it is very much a "Rip off the tourist for every rupee you can - Resort". Would not recommend to anyone.
