Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Hotel that feels like home
Friendly and helpful staff, food
9.3
We stayed here for 3 nights. Decided that 2 nights would have been enough because there isn't much to do around Nuwara Eliya. But 3 nights aren't bad too if you just want to take it easy and enjoy the serenity and fresh air. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. It felt like we know everyone here and they know us too. Buffet dinner was amazing - especially the Sri Lankan food selection. I was especially thankful to the staff that made my partner's birthday special during one of the dinners given that I made the request at such a short notice.
What to avoid: Spa was pricey and wasn't up to standard. The real price of the spa was not really mentioned in the brochures in the room (or maybe we didnt read the fine prints). The price shown did not include the mandatory multiple taxes.

magical hotel on top of a mountain
magnificent position and super service
10
a wonderful converted tea factory 2000m above sealevel with stupendous views over the surrounding tea plantations and down towards the plains far below. The service from the staff was excellent, the room was very comfortable and the food in the restaurant was very high quality and delicious. I would recommend this hotel to guests who like peace and quiet and are not looking for nightlife. It is a special place and I will most definately return there one day.
Remember to bring a sweater for the evening.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
the guided walk (2 hrs) through the tea plantations was very good organised by the hotel especially if you like bird watching.

Great ambience and a unique hotel
Good atmosphere , good rooms
8.3
booked four rooms for group. valentines night meal available but we all had the normal buffet which was good value for type of hotel. the hotel is charming wth some of the original tea factory machinery dotted around. some noise from floor above as wooden floors inevitably made more noise than carpets and soundproofing floors would not be necessary in a tea factory! tea picking and nature walk both worth the small amount of money .na packet of tea given out next day to those that tried tea picking which is a nice touch but the i placating that they actually use the tea you picked as an individual and process and pack individually did not happen but i suspect no one is ever likely to pick enough to make up more than a couple of teaspoons of tea anyway, nature walks advertised as thee times a day were well led with knowledgable guide who added to the interest. relatively expensive hotel but well worth the money .
Hotel Feature Tip:
Do the tea picking and nature walk both interesting and good fun. Otherwise relax in a unique hotel

Unique hotel in a great location

This was the largest hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka. It is the best hotel at which to stay in the area. As a converted tea factory it has unique features. It also enjoys fantastic views from one side of the hotel.
Unfortunately for us, our room faced over the car park at the rear and had no view. The room itself was a good size but a little tired. Overall, notwithstanding the good reviews it gets, the hotel could do with some refurbishment by comparison with the other places we stayed but it does have character.
We ate in the main restaurant one evening but opted out of the buffet and took the a la carte. It was very disappointing. On our other night we ate in a railway carriage attached to the hotel on a fixed price multi course menu. There was simulated movement of the carriage between courses and the food was excellent. The waiter, dressed as a railway guard, made the evening fun. You need to book a table in the carriage as there is limited space.
It is worth taking a tour of the tea plantation around the hotel. Take the early tour if you want to see the bird life (although it was too early for us). It is hilly so be prepared for the hike up the hill.

Beware of room description
6.7
We stayed one night at the heritance Tea Factory, where we booked two superior rooms. The website described the rooms as having a king or twin beds. When we arrived we were informed that they had allocated us only two single rooms. To have a room which would fit us all were asked to pay another $250 US. This was reduced after some negotiations, but we were still dissatisfied with the outcome.

we stayed here towards the tail end of the whole trip. we were looking for a great hotel to chill out, with nice view, good service staff, and good room facilities. this hotel has it all. the hotel is situated onto of a hill and some 20km away from the city centre. the hotel faces a tea plantation. the temperature is cool all year round and you are able to just sit in the open area with a book in your hand and great tea to accompany you. you can also walk around the plantation and enjoy the greenery. recommended for traveller who are looking to spend sometime with tea plantation and yet, stay in a comfortable hotel.

Great hotel in a great location
The fine dining restaurant which is in a train carriage

Great hotel in a tea plantation. The outside of the hotel looks like an old soviet style factory but the inside is beautiful.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Ask for a high floor to avoid any noise and a corer room as you get views both ways

Okay stay, would not stay again
Great spread for breakfast and dinner, cute little tea factory
6.7
It was Ok - the service is impersonal and all bell boys expect tips...standing and waiting for them. The room was Ok, but for the amount of money we paid it could be much much nicer.
