Extremely dowdy rooms, all quite bizarre.
The restaurant food was OK
5
The most staggering thing about the Tea Bush was that it was the same price as the HotelSuisse in Kandy which was a marvellous place. The location is decent enough with views over the town and tea plantations but that's pretty much where the positives end. Our room was dreadful, thoroughly depressing, dark, small, tatty and without even a chair in there never mind drawers or a wardrobe. The general decor of the whole place could only make a mildly depressive person a near certainty for suicide. The restaurant staff`s habit of leaving the lights off until their first customers arrived was more than vaguely disconcerting and the fact that there were probably 3 waiters per customer gave one the impression that one had been transported to some kind of film noire situation from which there would be no escape. The manager though was quite helpful and the food was actually more than acceptable. Fellow guests were also extremely inconsiderate a situation only exasperated by paper thin doors between rooms.

Lovely hilltop hotel
Nice and clean room with comfortable beds and spacious bathroom
7.3
Friendly staff who helped with all our needs. However the hotel was located at the top of a hill and it was quite a long walk from the main road. And the free wifi was only at the restaurant and main reception area. Would be good to extend to the rooms too.

Great staff attitude; views

We were warmly greeted by the manager, who couldn't have been more helpful. He was quick to respond to any requests and queries. The reception and lounge areas are very partan though, and the management would do well to upgrade these areas. We ate most times in the hotel restaurant, as we were a little way out of town, and the food was really, really good. As with other places in Sri Lanka, food was slow to arrive, so it was a good idea to order the food a while before the meal. Would definitely go back there.

Great location but terrible rooms

The hotel is extremely bare with occassional hot water in a cold and damp room. The hotel manager reminded us 3 times that breakfast was not included in our voucher.
Travel tip:
Do not stay here if you are allergic to damp moldy rooms.

Nice location but average rooms
Nice views from the hotel

Welcome was warm and the staff are friendly. It has good views from the restaurant.
I stayed in 3 different hotels and this was the most expensive and the least impressive room or facilities. The room and bathroom were clean with hot water.
As it was very cold, I requested for a room heater. I was told it would cost me SLR1500. I said no thanks but the reception called me back and said I can have it without charge. Thank you but still I think a room heater should be a standard room accessory.
When I inquired about the restaurant times I was told the closing time was 10PM. I reached the restaurant at 8:30PM. Although the staff at the restaurant were friendly they were like we are planning to close at 9PM and we can deliver the food order in your room. So me and my wife were forced to have our dinner in our depressing room. The food was OK.
The hotels small garden was nice. Find another hotel if you can.
Restaurant Tip:
Closes early.

Dining overlooking the valley was very nice. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. The room was adequate. The food was good. I only wish that this place was closer to town.

Views over Tea Plantations spectacular

This is a lovely, some what old fashioned plantations managers residence in an ideal spot at the top of the mountain. Rooms are spacious and bathrooms excellent with steaming hot water which you need as the weather is cool here.
Restaurant Tip:
In this region the vegetable are wonderful so try the Olde English Vegetable Broth

9.7
This was a marvelous hotel to stay in at Nurawa Ella. Great location, fantastic views, charming decor reflecting the nature of the area and the history of tea planting.
Located in the town but surrounded by tea plantation. Views over the whole town and up to the mountains surrounding. Views from the roof top garden and the restaurant are absolutely amazing.
Staff were very helpful, food and drinks were great.
Can recommend this hotel for a stay in the highlands to any one.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Roof top lawn area is just a one-off marvelous idea
