Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Quiet colonial charm
Nice garden, friendly staff, colonial charm
6.7
Overall a nice hotel, with friendly staff. Quiet location with beautiful garden but still easy walking distance to town. One disappointment was for the 2 nights we stayed no one serviced our room. When we made our bed we discovered that they had used a single sheet (together with holes) for our king size bed - not easy to make and not very comfortable.

Poor end to Bad Day
Spare room available despite not acknowledging Agoda Booking at first, Nice pack for pre breakfast start, Staff ensured you were awake for early (05:30) start

We arrived late due to circumstances beyond hotel's control. However what we saw of town was not "English Village". We had taken train from Kandy, our driver had gone ahead. Duty Manager managed to pick arguments with our (up to this point and after) friendly and helpful driver. He didn't listen to my attempts to reassure him that within my contract with driver's company my driver could not claim expenses.

the only things I remebered about my stay there:
1) Everything costs money.
2) When you have dinner there, people working there kept asking" are you done"
3) When you woke up in a nice mood, the first question from the service people there is " when will you check out"
I am not sure whether they have different service to European and Asian. But Sri Lanka is located in Asia, isnt it?

Nice old house turned into Hotel
Easy walk to town center, lovely garden

It wasn't the Trevene's fault that it rained the 3 days we were there so that clothes washed and rung out one evening were even wetter the next morning. Because of the rain,we couldn't do what we intended in exploring the surrounding areas. This nice old house has been converted into a hotel/B & B (although our breakfast was not included in the cost) where comfort is adequate but minimal. Our room was large with one large bed and one small bed, but there was no place to hang clothes or to open suitcases. Because it was so humid, water from the shower that splashed on the bathroom floor (no enclosure or curtain) did not evaporate and there was no mat to wipe your feet on. The towels were so wet after one use and humidity absorption that they were fairly useless for drying and were not changed the second day we spent there. We did buy breakfast there, not wanting to make the 15 minute walk to the town area in the rain, and they prepared a Sri Lankan breakfast for us after we insisted, which was quite good. We did not eat dinner there but were told that the food was good. The staff was helpful and friendly. Certainly the weather clouded our impression, but we felt that the the price we paid merited more comfort than the bare minimum we found.

Very comfortable 'British' type hotel
Nostalgic British accommodation set in a beautiful picturesque environment
7.3
Very comfortable although there was a 'sameness' to the daily menu, not enough variety. Also no 'driver accommodation' as other hotels have for hire car drivers that accompany patrons on tour. Very central. Plenty of restaurants & shopping. Service was ok.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Very central to a number of the main sightseeing attractions

The Trevene, Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka
Good location, staffs friendly, nice ambience
6.3
Old single storey house with nice garden to sit and relax. Nice room, English setting with fireplace (800rps to light it up). 850 rps+10% service charge for dinner. No heater. 1 soap bar , towels provided, no other toileteries. Blanket dusty. No tea making facilities but hot water provided. Bfast-English only. Had better sumptuous bfast at a 1+ star hotel - Skypark Holiday inn.
20 mins slow walk to town centre.
Hotel Feature Tip:
No staircase up to rooms. Suitable place for elderly.

stayed one night at this adorable hotel. the rooms are quite big and ours came with a fireplace... there is a special feel in this hotel unlike any i have ever been in, it makes you feel like you have stepped back into the 1800 hundreds. dont know about the food or the overall service from the staff as we hardly saw them, and we spent much of our time walking around city.
note that the rooms are cold in the night because of the altitude.. not a problem as long as you stay under the sheets though.
