Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Good stay after initial disappointments
Nice staff, nice balconies, nice garden and pool
6.3
The hotel is not located where shown on the map, it is not close to town. It is very close to very busy road. They do not have bicycles for rent, although after much insisting they very kindly found some for us. No WiFi. The description is misleading, a shame as it builds unnecessary expectations.

the room was incredibly spartan, not even a chair to sit on despite it being a family room for 3 adults. Also reception staff unhelpful, we had to keep asking questions like breakfast times, wifi password and so on.
The bathroom was large but fittings loose and very old

Decent hotel, nicely located
Closely located to Dambulla, Sigiriya and Minneriya
7.7
The hotel has basic rooms with confortable beds. Swimming pool is ok, not to dancy. The food is good and cheap compared to otehr hotels. Staff is friendly and overall their english is good enough. The service is also good, only we had to leave at 5:45 in the morning and the hotel arranged breakfast packages.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Visit Sigiriya Rock and Minneriya notinal park

a nice secluded place but a little overpriced
tucked away, friendly waitstaff, good pool area.
6.3
we choose to stay here as a bit of a nicer option than our usual guesthouse option ad we were there over christmas. the place was quite tropical with a relaxing ambience but that's probably as far as it goes. food was ok, the waitstaff were super friendly but the front desk staff were not. they organised a car for a day for us and we got quite ripped off (our fault too, but the rate seemed not to be negotiable) and didn't like it when i queried our final price at check out when they over charged us. pool area was good and the rooms nice enough, tempremental hot water.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
When you have seen the big golden Buddha and the rock temples you are pretty much done with dambulla. head to the other major sites in the area.

Big room with a lot of mosquitoes
Very attentive and helpful staff
6
It took us quite some time to find the hotel. We reach the hotel very early in the morning and they allow us to check in when there is room available. Maybe they in the hurry to clean the room for us, they never give us any towel until we ask for it. The room is very big but has a lot of mosquitoes despite having the repellent in the room. The blanket is only a piece of cloth so will be very cool in the middle of the night. They don’t provide any toiletry or slipper in the room so you have to bring your own. However, they provide free accommodation and food for our driver.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
We went to the Minneriya National Park, Sigirya and the rock temples. For the Minneriya National Park, we have to rent a jeep that cost us RP4,000 and we still have to buy entrance ticket to the park. For the rock temple, the way to come down from the rock temple is very dark after sunset (i.e. no light at all) so try to go earlier.

nice if you like a natural setting

nice for those who like being in nature, however the power cut out temporarily and there were lizards and mosquitoes in the room. Having said that there is a sleeping net provided and i didnt get one bite. Helpful staff and clean room.

Beautiful gardens and a high degree of privacy
Gardens, food, privacy, staff.

the pelwehara village consists of a number of good sized, clean and comfortable en suite rooms, each with a private terrace area looking on to beautiful, well tended and designed gardens. the staff are very attentive, helpful and welcoming. well prepared food is to be found in a large, airy dining area and is buffet style, with a wide range to suit most tastes. the restaurant manager, k mahinda, is a star, all smiles and friendliness, with nothing being too much trouble.
there is a large, well kept swimming pool in the garden.
a nice touch was the flower arrangement which we found on our bed on returning from a day out
pelwehara is ideally situated for visits to sigirya, which is about 15 minutes away, as are the rock temples at dambulla.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Sigirya and the rock temples at Dambulla. Both well worth a visit, although Sigirya is frighteningly expensive (£30 per person if you are not a Sri Lankan Resident). Beware, as always, touts who will attempt to fleece you for the contents of your wallet in return for ill informed "guidance".

Mooie locatie, maar opgelet
Mooie grote kamers, uitgebreid buffet
7.3
