Great beach, lovely sun rise in Trincomalee.
The staff are friendly, the food is ordinary and the facilities have seen better days.

I stayed at the Sea Lotus Park Hotel on Wednesday the 27th of February as it was located near to the city of Trincomalee, one of the better hotels in the area I advise you to stay in the newer section of the hotel. Facilities are in general need of repair, however the staff are helpful and if you go to the hotel with a one star rating in mind then you won`t feel in anyway let down. The big saver for this hotel os it`s location next to the beach, where you can enjoy the sun and surf.
The hotel has driver accommodation, so no need to fork out cash for an extra bed, you might try walking down the beach to Fernando`s Cafe for an evening beer, but don`t expect much in the food department.

Great Beach Hotel @ Reasonable Price

I had read some negative reviews and was pleasantly suprised when the Sea Lotus not only met my expections but beat them. We did not each much @ the Sea Lotus as we were trying restraunts and different food to eat all the time, but the one breakfast we got was very good.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Find a Tuk Tuk driver who can speak some english and does tours, for under 2000 you can see alot of Tinco quickly and see everything you need to see, would be hard to find by yourself. 2000 rupees is a midlle of the road price, we were quoted 1700 but i'm as close to a local as you can get without living in SL, i ended up buying thre guy lunch, gave hime 2200 and invited him over for a drink and some bites in the evening!

Location is the good thing. Very nice beach. But the basic rooms are probably too expensive for what they are. It is all the most stupid because they have some new rooms, which they prefer to leave empty, when they could give an upgrade to their clients. For what I paid, I really thought they could have upgraded me (I even asked, they said the new rooms were 15 USD more per day; but it looked really stupid to see all clients packed in the 'bad' rooms, when all the new refurbished rooms were empty. Would have cost them nothing to be nice to their clients.
The buffet for lunch or dinner was average, I decided to go to Chaaya Blue which, although more expensive, is so so much better.

Expensive food (You can find more chip and testy food walking to the left from hotel by beach about 50 meters )
Some rooms are damaged

Good Location but Poor Service
Located by the Beach which is a Plus. The swimming here is safe as compared to other beaches on the west coast.

The service could have been better especially in the Dining room. They do not provide much variety of food and the menu is much the same each day. Some of the staff seem to be somewhat "SHY" and the main drawback is the inability to converse in English.The location is Good and they could capitalise on this if they provided better access to the Hotel. Currently the road is shocking to the Hotel as it is a gravel road with several Pot holes.However that said,unfortunately several of the roads arounc Sri Lanka are in a sad state of disrepair.
Overall we enjoyed our stay as we have never been there before.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
If one expects to visit the World renowned Natural Harbour which Trincomalee is famous for then they need to ensure that they apply for a permit to visit as ther is heavy security still preventing anyone from seeing this spectacular harbour. We were told we needed a permit to enter and that we had to apply for one and that it would take 4 days. Unfortunately we did not get to see it as we were there for only 2 days.

it seems that many of the hotels in trincomalee are overpriced and this one is no exception. the room is large and spacious but rather run-down, especially the bathroom. but it is all clean and would be quite acceptable if it wasn't quite so expensive. the pool is fine, good access to the beach. the restaurant is ok, breakfast was a buffet that was reasonably good. it seems there are limited options around uppaveli beach for people who want a more mid-ranged place to stay and this is a reasonable choice if you're willing to pay it. just don't expect anything amazing.

The Hotel is ideally located in Uppuveli, with a direct access to the beach and a nice swimming pool. The staff is helpful and friendly. But the hotel realy needs to invest into the rooms. Shower is leaky, linen are definitely not clean. Could have been better for the price. If you want a great location, take it. If you want a clean one, choose something else.

We stayed for one night and had booked standard room. The room was spacious but the get up just about ok.
Good location for swimming pool facing the beach.
We had a problem with the restaurant since it offered only buffet option for dinner.
At night had to call thrice for a/c not functioning and after around half n hour on the 3rd call, I was asked whether I am fine changing the room. I was expecting proactiveness from their end.
Surely, they did upgrade my room to that extent.
Breakfast spread was reasonable
