Basic Beach Hotel but Hepful and Friendly Service
Helpful Staff and Near Beach.

Value for money for accommodation so near the beach. Location is still clearly trying to recover from the after effects of the civil war and tsuanami. Amendities in the hotel are basic but clean. However, the helpful and friendly staff working there more than made up for it, especially, the hotel manager, Muhamad, who really tried his best to provide our needs, despite the logistics limitations of the hotel.

Lovely place with alot of mosquitoes

Nice place in the middle of nowhere. The manager is great but no shops or restaurants are nearby and the meals in the hotel are quite expensive compare to others. On the other hand it is close to the beach and it is quiet location. Best place where to stay if you plan snorkeling at the Pigeon island. Definitely take with you a repelent.

we enjoyed our stay at shahira hotel very much. the location is great , few meters from the beach. we liked to seat in the middle of the lovely, peaceful garden looking at the stars. the staff is very polite and helpful.
the only low point is lack of hot water, but at least it's not very cold. but if you consider the small price you pay and the fact that breakfast is included in the price you can't really complain.

this hotel is far from trincomale (40km), the beach is dirty.
Rooms are dirty, nothing is clean. Food is not good.
The boss is kind.
I don't advise this hotel.

A disappointing find
The hotel is by the Nilaveli beach.

This budget hotel was a great disappointment to us because of the condition of the building and poorly maintained gardens. However the manager did his utmost to please us and the staff of young men did their best to meet our needs. The hotel will need an overhaul to make it suitable for foreign visitors.

The location is along Nilaveli Road
It is near the famously Nilaveli Beach opposite Pigeon Island visibilities

The establishment guests house rooms are big but the compound need to upgrade as plants are growing without much maintenance. On the whole it is inexpensive and very good value for money so we can't complain about it venue and it price quality.
The beach is just a path away and clean during the time of our stay as it is public beach without any cares by anyone. You can enjoy with good security on the beach as there is a military post for life guard on duty which is lots safer.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Take a trip to Trico town and you may spot a few spotted deer roaming around the street seeking for local bread known as Rotti.
They are very friendly and will stay outside the food establishment know to local as "hotel" till they are fed then they will leave. Each visit i went to Trinco, i always see them in the evening when they come from the nearby nature forest looking for food.

Great Location, Good Value

Shahira Hotel Nilaveli was a little hard to find at first as Google Maps didn't locate it exactly where it actually is and sent us to the military base next door (which was funny). The staff were expecting us and made us lunch within 30 mins of arrival. Rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. Location is within 100 metres of the lovely beach and other hotels which have bars and food are only a stroll away along it. An enjoyable stay.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Bus from Trinco takes about 30 minutes get on at bus station (ask which bus as sign isn't in English),get off at 16km post and then 10 min walk to hotel

it was close to nilavenli beach, which makes this hotel a good catch, only thing which someone might have a problem with is that this hotel doesnt have ac rooms and also bathrooms doesnt have hot water povision, if you can manage with this then this wud be the best hotel to stay.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Make sure you do visit Swami rock and make sure you do it either before 11AM or after 4-5PM, considering the heat outside
