Superb exclusive hotel on a picturesque stretch of beach. Service was impeccable and the restaurant excellent (and not expensive). The chef will come out and chat to you about the food and cooking techniques etc. Breakfast was fabulous - have the egg hoppers. Thalpe is a tiny village so you will have to organise some transport to get to Galle or Unawatuna. This place will make you feel like a rockstar though so you may want to stay around....

Cute charming hotel by the beach in Taulpe

We were upgraded from Lobby room to Gardern suite upon checked in since hotel was not busy. Property is cute but when first checked in, thought room smelled a bit musky. Think its from the dampness being near the beach. There are 5-6 doors to the room so you get plenty of light. Room is spacious. Enjoy the fact that you can look out to the garden whilst taking a shower. Service was good. The waiters were smiley and helpful. Rather romantic property since they only have 8 rooms so there is no lack of privacy. Quiet , serene. A good place to relax after our 12 days trip around Sri Lanka.
The downside is that the beach is not ideal. Its rocky and not suitable for swimming. Unawatuna is only a 3 mins tuk tuk ride away. There is nothing around so you will have to get your driver to drive you to Galle for other dining options beside the 1 restaurant in the hotel.
Restaurant Tip:
During your stay at the hotel, either take a tuk tuk or ask your driver to take you to Lighthouse street and Pedlar street near the fort and lighthouse. Cute streets with many restaurants, cafes. We found several boutique hotels around this area. Would have loved to stay in one of them if we had more time. Try out Deco 44 for their seafood .

Small, stylish and quiet hotel.

This is a small 8 room hotel and we stayed here one night with the aim of going whale watching the next day. The hotel is only a 20 minute drive from Mirissa so it was very convenient. It was very quiet. The food was very good and excellent value for money. However the room service was limited and the beach is not great, although the sea view is lovely. I'd recommend it as a base for the nearby area if you want something quiet, private and secluded.

This hotel is a great place to retreat to. The pool is lovely, the actual beach is not really safe for swimming, quite rocky directly in front of the hotel, but ok 00 meters own. The rooms need a bit of a tart up, but a basically charming old style Sri Lankan teak. The bedding seemed a bit damp to me. Unfortunately I old not stay the whole night, as I had a flight brought forward (thanks air Lanka). On could only spend the afternoon,. Staff were very friendly. It is a bit out of the way though, so nothing else to do immediately around the hotel, just other private villas and hotels of similar type.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Great place to finish your Sri Lankan journey to unwind. 3 1/2 hours drive to airport.

Nice hotel but didn't stayed at sister hotel
Looked beautiful on arrival but cannot comment on staying there.

Unfortunately Jetwing Era Beach hotel didn't get the full details of our party therefore they couldn't accommodate us on arrival. However we were upgraded to the 5 star sister hotel - Jetwing Lighthouse hotel in Galle. This was a fantastic hotel - the rock/beach setting was dramatic and beautiful. The food was superb and staff - very friendly and accommodating. We used the Spa as well and it was again a magical experience! The children loved the pools (there are two) and the beach is so interesting with plenty to discover! The rooms were a lovely colonial style and the bathrooms really luxurious. Really you didn't want to leave this hotel!

this calm and stylish hotel was an oasis in an otherwise busy area.
sitting right next to the water, listening to the waves of the indian ocean and eating a delicious seven course meal for christmas was truly amazing. our two children voluntarily and happily gave up christmas presents in order to spend time in these beautiful surroundings.
the staff was very friendly, attentive, and always ready to meet our needs.
the rooms are clean, spacious and stylish and the beach is extremely beautiful, but definitely not suitable for swimming. the pool at the hotel, though, is very nice.
we had a wonderful time there and would love to revisit.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Beware of the Tuk-Tuk drivers in front of the hotel. Some of them will try to cheat you, and seems to have a death wish. Always negotiate the price before driving and
tell them to drive carefully. We found one though, who was both honest and careful.

Great service and the best restaurant in town
The hotel was lovely, the food was some of the best I've had.

the hotel was very nice, the pool amazing and the restaurant was top of the line. the beach was a little disappointing because the water was full of rocks so you couldn't swim. also, our a/c was broken (it was set on freezing all the time) but the staff was great. very helpful and polite. i highly recommend this hotel.
