room, view from the balcony, services, meal variety--everything was great
lots of room for improvement at the spa-- room was cold, the steam bath was cold, no music, massage therapist was just okay. i left the spa feeling like i had been covered in cooking oil.
overall the hotel services were excellent. the staff was helpful and kind. the room was comfortable. in sri lanka where curry is eaten for every meal, everyday, the hotel offered a wide variety of food and drinks. the hotel grounds were beautifully kept and the staff was always willing to answer any questions and offer information about the local markets, fisherman, and culture. my only dissapointment was the spa. i thought ayurvedic massage was a specialty in sri lanka, however it wasnt offered at the spa. the massage was sub-standard and i couldnt wash off the thick oil that the massage therapist used from head to toe. this was very uncomfortable considering srilanka can get really hot. i felt like i was covered in cooking oil.
Travel tip : there is a small town about 15/20 minutes away by three-wheeler where you can buy souvenirs, otherwise not much of interest beyond the hotel grounds.
