The room was better then what the hotel outlook

When we rch SML, There was still some time away from our check in. so we rent a bicycle to cycle around. The rental was TWD 10 per hour but we paid TWD 200. We rent two bike for two hour but for exceed 10min. So be sure to come back on time if you were to rent the bike.
The breasfast was not buffert style but it was one of the best I had. Location was good. Easy access around SML town. There was a small counter beside the post office seling the boat ride at TWD50 per person..

The hotel has about nine rooms in total and ALL the rooms are facing sun moon lake with unobstructed view. The scenery is very compatible with other expensive hotels. The hotel is not in a very good condition as i think it's been operated for a period of time and its like a family run business, but the staff, the style is very nice if you are looking for just a relaxing trip. The mattress and the full height sliding doors are the most impressive!! They claim as the mattress is come from a brand which has a very high rated. (Unfortunately i forgot the brand name). When you sleep on the bed, you can just turn around and facing to the sun moon lake, watching the sunset..... For this price, i would highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing trip, rather than luxury.
Travel tip:
There are two main parts in sun moon lake: northern side and southern side. Northern side where this hotel is situated, is more like tourist attractions (relaxing) while it is like more local villagers live in southern side.(restaurant mainly located there).
There is a newly opened tourist centre in upper north of sun moon lake, about 10min drive from this hotel, called XiangShan Visitor Centre. It s designed by japanese architect Norihiko Dan. Using fareface concrete with harmonic landscaped profile, it's a must to visit in sun moon lake!!!!!!

Looks nice on Website, Awfully bad in reality!!!!

1) The guest room is located next to public restroom. what kind of terrible design is that?
2) Lake view looks nice on website, however, once you look closer, it's very dirty.
3) the bathroom has molds everywhere. even the shower curtain has molds. the owner simply ask maids to clean it with water, she didn't want to replace new curtain for a long time.
4) the aircon doesn't work unless you ask the owner to turn it on. super inconvenient.
5) the owner has arrogant stuck up attitude. she's awfully proud of her place but in fact it needs major renovation. The material, the details are much in need for improvement. Really have no idea why she's so proud about. she's definitely NOT a warm welcoming humble nice owner.

we stayed in room which is at the basement next to the public toilet. their restaurant is on level 1, hence very noisy with foot steps and banging noise till late.
if possible avoid getting any rooms in the basement.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
there are many ferry providers around the area from nt 50-100. you may want to shop around and also get the nt 330 ticket from the visitor center for a round trip ticket (ferry, cable car and bike). do not visit on the 2nd weekday of the month as the cable car is down for monthly maintenance.

Great View But Poor Service

We were surprised when we opened the door to see a marjong table and stairs leading down to our room. The room had a balcony which had a 180 degree view of sun moon lake! It was like living in Sentosa Cove (lux beach houses) in Singapore! The room gives a luxurious vibe with its modern bedroom & toilet. I was impressed when I saw that the shampoo & bath soap given was Hermes!!!
However, the hotel should look into its service standards. The lady at the counter did not smile much and ignored my mother when she asked a question. We also wanted to book a taxi to the train station but she overcharged us & didn't even bother to call the cab company at all. We decided to take a bus which was very convienient as well. It was just further down the street & for a reasonable price, they are able to take you around sun moon lake, taipei & taichung.
Restaurant Tip:
The locals told us that the president fish was a must try there. I recommend the Sun moon restaurant near there. The Egg roll is a must try too (like love letters).

we chose a 4-pax room at 3/F and what killing us was the long stairs cos' we brought along medium luggage bags. But when opening the room door, we were all impressed by the view and all said what we suffered was nothing. Worthwhile for another try but with handbag only
Their breakfast was good for our appetite and again the view of the restaurant was bonus. The staff were helpful and good mannered.

Lake view, good breakfast, great location (close to bus station, close to boat ride) and hotel with most amenities

1) Stayed in room 2B, it was with 2 sides lake view! Super like!
2) No lift in the hotel, need to carry luggage by own to second floor
3) Breakfast was not buffet, but good enough, standardized for all
4) Receptionist was not very friendly, but not much of a problem because there was no service from this hotel
5) Room size was ok for 2 people
6) Overall an enjoyable stay but a bit pricy!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The price of boat rides vary quite significantly, suggest to compare before buying!
