The good : The massage is good, the masseur is good at what she does.. Breakfast selection includes both local and international cuisine. There are activities provided by hotel such as cycling, day tours..free shuttle also provided.
The bad : The mountain view is not impressive. Staff was not very helpful. Triple sharing is costly as the staff claimed the room could not add an extra bed due to size of the room. We had to pay for a room upgrade, costs as much as booking an additional room.. We had called prior to booking but the staff could not find our records. Felt that service could be better.

Beautiful location next to sun moonlake
The bedroom was spacious with seating area and spa bath.Great views over the lake to the mountains beyond.Free cycle hire to cycle part way round the .lake.

Only had two days but we explored the area from this hotel on foot and by bicycle.The nearby township has interesting shops and a decent selection of restaurants.Well worth a visit away from the cities.

Fantastic room with lovely service

The room was a great surprise, easily the nicest during my recent taiwan trip with my mum. I love bath tubs and I'm surprised at how good the bathroom sound system was, which is necessary cos' of all the water sounds. Even my mum is all praises for the tub. I also liked the bed, soft, plush and nice. The tatami area is cool though we didn't really use it much. The wifi router on loan for 500twd provided fantastic connection which my mum is extremely pleased about cos' she then could continue to watch her korean dramas.
As for the service, everyone was all smiles and courteous. Checking in and out was a breeze, the service staff all looked happy and energetic. We were given a nice briefing on breakfast location, facilities and the ongoing spa promotion (which we gave it a try and loved the interesting experience and different massage technique.) Whilst I can't say the spa is very pretty but the crockery used were interesting and environment clean and pleasant with friendly therapists.
However, I guess I can't really fault the hotel for it but sun moon lake was a huge disappointment. Paying more money for a lakeview didn't seem like a smart move. Our corner view was bad, the water was murky and slightly smelly.
Upside was that the shuttle service was actually more personalised then the fixed timing, they told me I just had to give them a ring and they'll pick us back to the hotel from town. I liked the little town. Quaint with nice shops. Breakfast spread was good too. Food felt like it was of good quality and well prepared.

Romantic hotel by the lake

Sun Moon Lake Hotel is about 1.5km away from Shuishe Visitor Centre & it provides free shuttle, very convenient.
You may also choose to walk or cycle by the lake with proper footpath, enjoy the breeze & the beautiful Lake. It's quiet, peaceful and romantic. The hotel provides free bike rental, so that makes it very easy to move around.
The staff is helpful, friendly, efficient & always smiling. Delicious breakfast, free wifi, spacious room with modern design and a Japanese living area. That is the way to enjoy and relax sitting by the balcony, having a beer & some snacks, losing the track of time as one is immersed in the atmosphere.

Wonderful rooms w/ good views of the Moon lake

Well I must say the room is wonderful for couples. Most of the rooms have good view of the Moon Lake. Make sure you borrow a bicycle and have a ride there as the scenery is just great.
May be I just came at a bad timing as in winter season the boat rental service is closed (otherwise you can rent and row a boat in the lake and take a few great shots). And there is a tour group from mainland China checking in at the same time so quite some services are fully occupied.
Generally speaking the service is just great.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Make sure you check the shuttle bus schedule as you may want to visit a small town called ShuiShe just 15min walk from the hotel. There you can join boat trip to visit various spot of the SunMoon Lake. Better go at summer time.

I spent 3 nights in the hotel and have a very warmly recption.The spa pool in the room is good and for relaxation. the senarios outside of the Sun Moon Lake in the morning is very beautiful.It is highly recommended for living in this hotel.
