If this hotel was any closer to the MRT station, it would be inside the station. The room was exceedingly small. Also, the decor and bathroom was old. I am sure that this would not have bothered me so much if it was not for the fact that I stayed in a plush luxury hotel before arriving to the Cosmos Hotel. Also, my previous hotel was in a nicer location. This hotel was perfectly central in the city, but I felt the location was a bit seedy. I guess it is hard to expect more for the price paid, but my friend stayed in a nicer hotel in a nicer location in Taipei for 25% less money than I paid.

Very accessible hotel with MRT next door and Railway station 10mins walk away. Good size room for a city Hotel. Delicious buffet spread of breakfast. Limit choices of Day tour company. Thin walls between rooms, can hear the TV program at night. As we are on a free and easy for 5 days, so chose Cosmos due to the MRT next door. First 4 days was on MRT to eating, shopping, sightseeing, hot spring, Taipei 101 and ferris wheel. Last day on a one day tour booked with the hotel tour, good price and funny tour guide cum driver. Below the hotel are two long underground mall. Very convenient especially during raining days.
Shopping Tip : During sales period, you can get good and quality products just slightly more expensive than street stall. Underground mall got cheap and comfortable boots, NT390.

Reasonable cost, very central position, and nice rooms. I've stayed here several times. It is a good quality hotel at reasonable price. It's a 5 minute walk from Central Station (don't believe Lonely Planet when they say it's almost in the station - it isn't). The internal rooms (no windows) are beautifully decorated with lots of lights and a big wall mirror, so their is no feeling of claustrophobia. The bathroom is nice, with a bath. The food is good and the reception staff very attentive. I wish there was a Cosmos Hotel in Tokyo, Bangkok, Sao Paulo, London.
Hotel Feature Tip : To fill the mini bar, turn left outside the hotel. Walk 50 metres to a 7-11. They charge 1 TWD for a bag to carry away your goodies in. If you don't ask, you have to carry away your purchases in your arms!
