Our stay at the Eastern Hotel was a shock with its run down and dirty appearance, smelly lift, moody bath room. The hotel was located at 11th floor, with a very uncomfortable entrance. There are higher club located at the same building and drunk men oftern inane out the same lift with hotel guests.

Overall quality of the environment is ok but. The levator shared with other floors look dirty. The room is too small and the ceiling is oo low. Compare with the price and the overall quality, it looks like one star motel for me.

walls are quite thin in the hotel. could hear a lot of "noises" from time to time. good price for its location though. however, there is a jd downstairs and often get weird stares. therefore, girls only travelers should try to stay out.

For the price, its definitely value for money. As for the location, its definitely great as its located right beside Zhongxiao Dunhua MRT. The staff is friendly and provided travel advice. Room is small to hold more than 2 luggages but otherwise is spacious for 2 person. Room is clean as it was serviced daily. The airport ferry service is offered for 1000NT which is cheap for groups with 4 or more. What I found lacking will be the unavailability of laundry service. For those who wants to stay at this hotel, advice will be to look around for laundry service.

I want to Taipei in mid-Dec 2012 for the city's marathon, and I chose the hotel because it's close to the starting point of the race, and it's relatively cheap. At the end, you get what you asked for.
The hotel is located inside a commercial building, there's a nightclub/KTV several floors below, so don't expect the place to be quiet during weekends.
Prior to arrival, I knew some of the hotel rooms are without windows and I emailed them and asked for one WITH window(s). They didn't reply, and it turned out that they have given me a room that is WITHOUT. And there was some bad smell coming from the room. So I had to change for a larger room, even I was made to pay for another HK$250 for 3 nights.
