Only about 5-8 minutes walk to the shopping area of Ximending. Despite its closeness to amenities, hotel is good value for money. Rooms we're reasonably clean and pleasant although a little small. But considering the price, we can live with it.

It is a reasonably no frills hotel with the basic necessities of clean sheets, clean bathroom and clean towels. Rooms were a little small, but we're able to live with it as its price were very reasonable. The bed was a little hard though, but we noticed the same in other hotels while travelling round Taiwan.

Good location with excellent service

Traveled with a group of family, and the lobby area is a welcome area for us to meet for breakfast and also for dinner for chats and rest. Hotel does not provide food, except for breakfast. Rooms area clean, stayed in family room with 2 big beds. Unfortunately this leaves no space for a cabinet so luggage have to be spread all over the floor area.
The family room has a small table, but not large enough for the whole family to sit around and have food. To eat anything bought from outside, including instant noodles, it's quite a squeeze. Have to eat at the common dining hall in the lobby.
Service is prompt and friendly. After staying there for 7 days, it gives us a "homely" feel, rather than a hotel feel to it.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Can buy road side snacks back to hotel and eat at the lobby dining tables if traveling as a group.

I enjoy staying there. It's worth the money. Hotel staff very helpful in telling us the places to eat n shop.
Lots of little outlets among hotel to explore. Hotel is bear to MRT stations.

Great Location

We did not realize that the hotel has another extension rooms located about 100m across the junction. Looked like the hotel was under expansion. As we came in large group, our rooms were distributed across these two buildings. This caused inconvenience to us. However, the hotel staff was very helpful and managed to move our rooms back to the main building on the third night.
I thought the hotel would have indicated the location clearly upon registering on the website.

Hotel is at great location, close to ximending and train station. The hotel provides free Wi-Fi, great for mobile travellers. The hotel is expanding and under renovation, hence some of the rooms are new while others might not be so. Each newly renovated rooms have unique design.

Good location but small rooms
Bubble tea, 5 min walking distance to XMD station, food stalls around

Overall though the room is a bit small and sometime WIfi is quite slow, the stay is quite pleasant. Quite convenient as there are food stalls downstairs and just 5 mins walk to XMD or the station. Will consider staying ECFA again when we're going Taipei!

Great location in Ximending

We stayed 2nights at ECFA. The room was so small we could hardly find space to place our 2 cabin size luggages. In the end, we had to place one luggage on top of the fridge. Toilet was weird - full glass. Full height window in toilet which you need to ensure the curtains were properly drawn. The beds were itchy to sleep on, the breakfast was extremely limited and the lift was old and small despite recent renovation. Not many cab drivers know of this hotel.
However, service at reception was good. The distance of hotel to the MRT station is only a max of 10mons stroll. It was convenient to get around from the hotel.
There are other better and cheaper hotels in Taipei. Choose this hotel only if you intend to spend time sightseeing and shopping, with minimal time in room or when you need a last minute
Shopping Tip:
Avoid shopping at Shilin night market. Prices there are at least 2 times more expensive.
