Historical and landmark building.
Nice view and clean room, free shuttle bus runs between the hotel and MRT Yuansan station is a plus for travelers.

About service
Although it seemed a bit old, hotel was very clean and bed was really comfortable. Employees were also kind but they didn't let us know if we are going take the bus to airport, we have to make reservation. When we asked about other routes to taoyuan airport, they just mentioned about taxi and charges. Any other service was good.

Good for short stay with elderly parent
It is a beautiful hotel to stay and be immersed in the nostalgic beauty of the Chinese architecture. Interesting to know the former world leaders and celebrities who had stayed there as well. Staff were helpful, polite n well trained. Breakfast was good for the variety of Chinese food offered. Room size at the Deluxe triple room was generous for the 3 of us . Highly recommended for a short stay if you are bringing an elderly parent along on the trip .

Lobby is very nice.
Traditional Chinese lobby to experience. Service is so so. Location is inconvenient. Not suitable for business except somebody gives you ride.

Very disappointed...
We were actually expecting a very nice time at the Grand Hotel, unfortunately everything started not in the best way when in the reception we were not informed about anything regarding the "rules" that are more then many making it look like an army camp. The breakfast was not included in the room price although it was not specified anywhere, also we were given a afternoon tea that obviously someone that is in Taipei for the first time is not gonna use considering that there is so many things to see and do in this amazing city. The so announced sky lounge on the top of the hotel was closed seems like for good. And the pool is way to far from the hotel to be enjoyable plus you have to wear swimming cap and once again we were not informed of anything in advanced, when we tried to get in the water without a swimming cap we had a big group of 4 staff yelling at us and running to us as if we were doing something seriously wrong in order to stop us from swim into the refreshing water... Also the information available from the staff about the city and surrounding wasn't as expected once we tried to ask many times for many thing and rarely they could help. Room service staff was not polite. There are also other small things that we can call unlucky, like the blow dryer got broken 2 times or the room was extreme humid or even the lights of the toilet suddenly stopped working and took them more then one hour to get it back to work... Well fortunate we had a very nice experience in Taipei in other hotels and we surly intend to come back also surly not to this hotel.

Not bad if the hotel but foods were not good. Everything is so outrageously high.
