A minimalistic and budget hotel perfect for guests who intend to spend much of their time exploring and roaming the sites of Taipei. Located on Chung Hwa Road, the Sung Shan domestic airport is only a 20 minute drive away while the Ximendi Metro station is a five minute walk. The guest rooms at the Lilai Hotel include satellite television, air-conditioning and early morning wake up call. Utilize the laundry services provided by the hotel. Take the Metro into town and visit nearby attractions like Taipei’s World Trade Center, the National Palace Museum and the world’s tallest building, Taipei 101. The CKS International Airport is only a 45 minute drive away.

1. like the easy access from Ximending station and shopping paradise.
2. cheap price.
3. hotel allows us to leave our excess large suitcase @ their lobby so we could travel light to other cities in Taiwan before coming back to Taipei.
1. Very run-down. Very dark and gloomy.
2. found out a lot of hotels in same area with better facilities and cleaner.
3. Bathtub old and rusty.
4. shower head do not have shower holder so got to hold on to it when bathing.
Hotel staff ok, stayed 1st 3 days due to prebooked from Singapore. Was given a two double bedroom for 3 person but 1 bed with mirror directly above. Hotel is quite run-down, gloomy and dark only have clean sheets and free breakfast (ABF) to make-up for the above. Booked my last night in same hotel due to weekend (Friday) and surrounding hotels are mostly fully booked.
Nightlife Tip : Very near Ximenting - shopping district.

The wireless internet gives me no problem in connecting with the outside world. The line is not slow and doesn't go offline easily. Simple breakfast such as eggs, bread, butter, jam and coffee/ tea are provided if the guests are not fussy enough.
Water dispenser outside the room and the water heater/ boiler needs to be replaced as they seem to be dirty.
Overall, this hotel provides the most basic needs of a traveller. As for the location, it may be slightly inconvenient because it's located at the opposite street of ximenting hiding at a corner. For first time hotel stayers, they may face issues in locating the hotel. They definitely need a local's help on the street to help you keep a look out of the street's name. It is not not that clear cut for a start. however, once you manage to find the way to the hotel, that should be fine, at least this hotel is not located in between the backstreet of the building. PS: please keep a look out at the lighted board that is attached to the wall of each building.
