Right at the MRT station. Centrally located. A free breakfast spread with good variety.
Small room, small bathroom, hard bed.
Location is one of few good things you can say about San Want. It is centrally located next to a subway station. It has numerous stores near by. Hotel is plain with tiny rooms or at least my room was tiny and bathroom is even more cramped. I had to close the bathroom door to find the toilet.
While the room is clean, there is nothing to notice. Everything is some shade of beige/brown. It is a reasonable priced place to crash and not much more.
I will be back at my regular hotel for my next trip. However, if my regular hotel is sold out again, San Want is a reasonable backup.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Use MRT and the Yo Yo card as much as you can. It is the best way to travel in Taipei. Take 5 minutes to return the Yo Yo card just before you leave to get refund.

Airport bus stop is not easy to reach.
Great buffet breakfast. MRT just in front of the Hotel. Close to Taipei 101. In the heart of a lovely shopping area. Fast check-in and check-out. No better location in Taipei. And many other good reasons to stay at San Want Hotel again next time.
Restaurant Tip : Very good and true Italian restaurant just behind the corner.

Great location and service
The hotel rooms are a bit tiny and have been outdated...
First time Taipei and the San Want Hotel has a great location. Very close to subway and also Taipei 101 and other restaurants and shopping. The service was efficient and friendly but the rooms are very tiny and very outdated. If they could renovate and modernise the rooms a bit, it would make the hotel superb. Also, the breakfast buffet was a bit limited in choice of food.

Greatest thing with San Want is their location - right in Dong Qu (Eastside) and their Teochew restaurant is just fabulous! The downside is the superior room is tiny without any view so spend the extra and go for the deluxe room.
Restaurant Tip : Hsin Yeh which serves fantastic Taiwanese food on the 2nd floor on a street near to the hotel. The Teochew restaurant within the hotel is also very, very good.

Rooms are clean and big. Location is great as the MRT station is just beside the hotel. There are many branded shops around the corner & opposite of the hotels. Good foods can be found nearby (behind) the hotel too. 24 hours Elite Bookshop is nearby the hotel.
No airport express bus that reached the hotel which is very inconvenient. There is no change in their breakfast spread daily which could be boring after staying there for more than 5 nights (first 3 nights are booked by company for business stay). When it's raining, the rain will come into the restaurant as there are holes on the top glass ceiling.
The best part of this hotel is it primes location and the MRT station (Zhong Xiao Dun Hua) is just beside it. If you need to travel to one of the scenic place - Ye Liu, the bus-stop (for Guo Guang bus) is located beside the hotel. There are many good foods and shops which can be found nearby the hotel (walking distance). Even though that there are no airport express bus which can reach the hotel, I would still recommend the stay in this hotel and would definitely stay there again on my next trip.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you need to travel to one of the scenic place - Ye Liu, the bus-stop (for Guo Guang bus) is located beside the hotel. It is very convenient to travel there without arranging for the tour guide.

Clean room. Easy access to the MRT. Convenient. Lots of food and boutique around the area.
Check in time is 3 pm. So I had to wander around the streets until 3 to get into my room.
The hotel pricing is in the middle range, but it is defintely better than 2 other hotels i have stayed in Taipei before. I have stayed in this hotel twice, although it is not super fancy but its service and cleanness was very good. Their room service at night was very well as well. My friends and I are very satisfy with the location of the hotel and the overal staying.
Shopping Tip : There are many shops on the street that the hotel is located, and there are small, unique boutique behind the main street across from the hotel.

Very Convenient Location, Clean.
Not very luxurious layout.
staffs are polite, but found the layout of the room a bit weird; 2 beds end meet end. besides this, location is fantastic. not a problem for shopping and food. Will recommend relatives and friends to stay this hotel when they visit Taipei.

breakfast. comfort of the bed and covers. satellite tv channel choices. empty fridge to put stuff in. quiet room
concierge not readily available.
the location of the hotel was its best feature. it was near subway station, convenient stores, restaurants and shops. zhongxiao was definitely the best street for a first time visitor to taipei. hotel service was friendly and pleasant. however it was not easy to locate the concierge desk. i couldnt find the resources to ask about the places i was visiting. the reception desk does not seem to know the information i needed to ask concierge. i had to inquire the doorman to give me certain directions.

Good place for shopping, food and very near to MRT station.
This is a highly recommended hotel to stay. Just 1 min away from the MRT station. Plenty of restaurants a street away and places to shop. Hotel room is clean but a bit old. Buffet breakfast was great with plenty of choices of local and international. I was requesting for late checkout, but was declined. Staffs are friendly and speak good English. Worth coming back.
Restaurant Tip : Plenty of restaurants 1 street away from the hotel

The hotel is located in a convinient area and it is quite easy to commute to most of sightseeing spots in Taipei city. Hotel staffs are kind of course, very clean and confortable room. Breakfast they serve is fabulous.
Very few staff speak Japanese, however there shouldn't be much trouble communicating with them.
I enjoyed staying in San Want Hotel Taipei very much. It was nice for people from Asia and also travellers from western countries. It was my first time to visit Taipei so I had a lot of questions and the staff were nice enough to answe r them. I appriciated their amenity goods also. They have nice shampoo, conditioner, lotion and very fine towels. Checking in/out is very easy.
Nightlife Tip : It was quite difficult to find a place to have a drink late at night. But there was a fun place on the main street. You can take MRT to Dan-Shui (the last stop toward north) that is kind of a romantic place to visit.

located in very good location
some stupid rule that you can't ware hotel slipper to have brakefast
I was waring hotel slipper to have Breakfast and they asking me to go back to my room and change. at first i thought they are joking with me but apparently not they really want me to go back and change.
It's not formal a dinner restaurant where you have to dress nicely. I can understand if anyone waring hotel bathrobe to breakfast and you ask them to change but I still don't see any point why hotel slipper not allow.

Location,Location,Location
San want hotel is located in the very downtown and central location of taipei-close to shopping ,business and close to pretty much everything
Friendly helpful staff, good selection of resturant in hotel, good breakfast and an excellent bakery operating and attached to the hotel.
Only drawback is that room size is very small-though well planned it is small.Toilet size is also bit small.Ideal for 1 person but a bit cramped for 2 people.Rest hotel is very good
