Reached taipei main station around 8:30pm and it is quite hard to locate the hotel from the main station and end up, took a taxi.
Most taxi driver do not know where is Lilai Hotel and end up, we manage to hopped into 1 taxi that knows where is it.
The check-in and out is very efficient and fast. I booked a standard room. I find the room size quite small but is very clean. My partner finds the bed quite hard.
But the air-con is centralise and i think the hotel switched off the air-con during certain timing. Hence, we have to use a fan that is provided in the room.
The hotel provides breakfast at the rooftop. A very simple breakfast so we only ate for the 1st morning. The hotel is very near to Ximending and MRT (Train) station.
Quite a good and cheapest budget hotel. I would consider staying here again if I am back to Taipei.

This was not a bad hotel for the money. The rooms are fairly large and have a good amount of furniture. The beds were big too. And the location is extremely convenient- at the intersection of two subway lines. But the building is old and this shows in the rooms- the grout showing in the tub was particularly distasteful. The air conditioning could not be adjusted and was too high for me, so I was cold a lot of the time. The internet worked perfectly and with no problems at all- much better than in most American hotels!
Travel tip:
Very close to a fun shopping market!

Great location. Walking distance to Taipei Bus Station.

The location is both good and bad. Good is because it is very near to XiMending shopping area and the Taipei Bus Station is also within walking distance. However, as it is near to the main road, it can be very noisy. It is value for money. I would choose to stay here again.

Close proximity to Ximen Metro Station and walking distance to Ximending shopping district. The provision of breakfast included in the price of the hotel is a definite plus point. Clean toilets too. :)

Coming back to this hotel twice gave me 2 different experience. Personally I think if you are traveling on a shoe string budget and you just need a place to rest your head for the night, then Lilai Hotel ,or their new name Re'Lite Hotel, would be an ideal place to do so. With one of the lowest prices in the Ximen area and still offering breakfast is a definite plus. However, travelers will need to note that breakfast will be the SAME every day. Not much variety but definitely filling for Asians hence for non-Asians might be a tricky issue.
The rooms in the pictures will depict what it was probably a few years back, so it is slightly more run down now but still livable.

It was a 10min walk to Ximending so that was good. It's also walking distance to the nearest Train Station. Free wifi in hotel room was great! Breakfast of traditional porridge and soya bean milk was not bad.
Nightlife Tip:
There's a huge Partyworld KTV building nearby!

The bed we got in a room at level 11 was really funny. It was like a love hotel bed. the round type with mirrors on the ceiling.So funny. but the down side is that there are no shower curtains in the bathroom. very inconvenient. the rooms were relatively spacious though. very much to our surprise =) It was a memorable stay. The day time staff were all pretty and handsome. very pleasant to see them in the morning.
