Review of the Ambassador Hotel in Sukhumvit

I booked to room for my mother to stay at, as she had come from Canada for my wedding. It offered a clean comfortable room well up to North American standards. It was exactly what she needed after 'roughing' it a bit in the village where the wedding was. Hard to believe anybody would eat there as you only have to walk out of the hotel to the street to eat great food at thai prices.

it´s a beautiful hotel, in a great location, around the corner from the skytrain, with nice restaurants and bars around and lots to see and do.. markets stalls, street vendors, clubs etc the hotel is gorgeous and spacious. the staff are very friendly and polite and ready to solve any doubts.
Restaurant Tip:
the hotel offers great food, but it is also is in a great location with nice restaurants and tacky stalls that offer great meals!

Ambassador Hotel impresses at the entry, huge lobby but when you enter room it gives a not so fresh smell, bathrooms are very very small..it ends before it starts.
House keeping is very slow to respond and not so friendly, cleaning the rooms is once a day which is not suitable for Bangkok. Toiletries are not that good.
Buffet breakfast in the morning has language problems with staff, especially the chef.
Rooms are good, clean and comfortable.

Very good location at 5 minutes working distance of Nana BTS station. many restaurant all around the hotel and a very good Chinese one at the first floor of the tower wing.
The main characteristic of this hotel is the space reserved for the birds. The owner should be a birds lover.
Near the open air swimming pool, their is a kind of birds zoo with a large variety of birds with at least one who talk well in Thai and English.
The massage parlor is quite big with wide variety of choice of massages by women or men.
Most of the guests are from middle east, India , Pakistan as we are near their dedicated area in Bangkok.
The service was good with helpfulness.
Unfortunately, the civil work in progress at the basement made my journey very uncomfortable at day time in my room.
Shopping Tip:
Many shopping malls nearby as Robinson or Central at 1 BTS station only for each of them.

I need to say first of all the my Journey had a good end and I will get back in this Hotel for sure. But the story started when I checked in. My first room in the main Wing looks pretty ok but when I start to pack out my stuff i notice something on the floor. Then I saw one cockroach (3cm) run away.. I was shocked but one minute later I saw an other one and during searching my room i counted 8 (!!!!) cockroach and of course I couldnt stay in this room. So I try to call the reception but after 10 min nobody pick up the Phone i need to go downstairs to make a claim and insist for an new room. The put me in the higher floor and when i enter the room I ask for the Hotel boy to stay with me and be my witness in case there is something. In the first minute i saw again one cockroach. I told the boy he can go i will wait 5 min and check the room. Then i notice 5 cockroach in total but there was something in my room what I couldnt verified what it is. It was a smell like hell.. I open the refrigerator and then SHOCK!! It was an old Pizza inside and the smell was awful. - Of course I was on 100% overdue and i call the reception and they came to check and saw the shock as well. After this one hour shocking they give me a room in the tower and what a surprise! Room was big, clean, friendly and without any insect or something like this!

Stay was pretty ok. price was fairly ok. near the train stations so easy to commute. buffet is also pretty good. selection is limited though Need to give an arm and a leg just to use internet because of the price. rooms look and feel pretty old. overall i will recommend to travelers who dont have a big budget for staying in hotels and are not very particular with sleeping in a not so perfect room
