Large centrally located hotel with many amenities and restaurant options. Close to Sky Train (BTS). Rooms looked recently renovated and were clean. Room broadband internet option (not free). Very good buffet breakfast.
Somewhat noisy most of the day and night with guests coming and going all the time. Live band precludes an early nights sleep. Gym absolutely ancient. Check-out slow.
Certainly a pleasant hotel to stay at which works well for families of which there were a lot when we stayed. The hotel is very large but the complex design of the place doesnt make it overwhelming. No issues about service quality which was friendly and quick. The hotel straddles 2 steets ('sois'), Sukhumvit Sois 11 and 13. Arrival / reception is via Soi 11. When leaving the hotel do not take one of the taxis parked outside as they wiil not use their meters. Always flag down a moving taxi and make sure the meter is turned on.
Restaurant Tip : One of the best Thai restaurants in Bangkok (in my opinion) called 'Rosabieng' is located directly opposite the hotel entrance.

The check-in process, easy and streamlines, courteous efficient staff.
Price of course, and most central of locations along Sukhumvit..
Still a little too old fashioned, amenities lacking
I have stayed at the Ambassador in the past 3 visits to Bangkok and have found it to my liking. It may not be others' cup of tea, the size, the type of clientale and the old-fashioned nature of the rooms and the building itself (I've not tried the tower wing yet).
My visit this time was fpr 5 nights and the reasons were my familiarity with the hotel, the included breakfast, the friendly and unassuming staff and the central location in Bangkok.
I was completely satisfied.
Nightlife Tip : Near the Nana BTS (from where you can get anywhere) and of course to Soi Nana..

1. Well located
2. They even have Halal Food for breakfast
3. Good for farmilies
1. slow check in and out
2. why keep deposite cash only? use of credit cards should be applied.
The Ambassador Hotel is well located to most shopping areas, supermarkets and most importantly for Gulf visitors, the hotel is closely located to Arabic and Halal food restaurants, this makes it very ideal hotel for families etc. Although the hotel is old, one can pay a bit extra money and avail room in the new wing where rooms are recently renovated, clean and comfortable to stay in. The hotel has all the facilities like fine restaurants, bars, health center, etc.
For Muslims you can enjoy your breakfast as the hotel is serving Halal foods this is something not very common to other hotels. The hotel is definitely worth the money.

This hotel is a convent location. Easy to find transportation and close to BTS. The beds are super comfy. Curtains are good and dark for blocking out light.
If you want breakfast go early as they did not refill later in morning. I was very surprised at the low standard of the breakfast compared to the price. Room size was a little small but decor was nice and modern.
This hotel is very convenient to BTS and easy to get transportation. Our room was smaller than we expected but very nice and clean. Had everything we needed. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The soft beds and dark curtains were great. Hotel had guards on each floor and seemed very safe.

The facility was quiet, clean, staff were respectful and responsive, breakfast was included and was very nice for Europeaan, American and Asian tastes. Both the room and the restraunt provided excellent views of the sea.
Food and beverage service at poolside is expensive
We spent a nice weekend at Sai Keaw Beach Resort... although at first, the staff seemed a bit 'relaxed' to take us to our room, finally they upgraded us to a Deluxe Villa (or something like that)... really a nice and comfortable room... the part of the beach were this resort is I think is the best of Sai Keaw Beach area, that although is the 'busiest beach' in Samet, this area is really quiet... what I didn't like at all were the prices... while a simple coconut is 30 baht buying it to a beach salesman, the resort gives you the very same coco for 155 baht!!! anyway, the weekend was great and we enjoyed the beach, the sea and the resort a lot!! will go back for sure! thanks, best regards, Carlos

sleazy - they gave me a card with the 'fines' that would have to be paid.
smelly - stank of cigs.
noisy - all night obnoxious businessmen were up and down the hallways.
this hotel is terrible. You will be up all night with the sounds of people coming and going through the halls. The staff at the door look at you as if you are just another sleazy tourist. Service is terrible. The only good thing was that I only booked one night here, I almost didn't stay, i hated it that much. There are so many better places to stay in Bangkok, give this one a miss!

The main rooms have been renovated, are fairly nice now, clean and pleasant, and there is plenty of space at the hotel to walk around.
The food isn't great, though there are lots of choices at the breakfast buffet; it is big and some may object to birds in cages! And it is very annoying that the gym doesn't open till 7 normally and not till 9 on weekends and holidays!
It took me years to find a hotel in Bangkok I am willing to return to consistently; I spent years at Soi Kasemsan 1 until the cockroaches drove me out, and I prefer to avoid high-end hotels. Ambassador is big but doesn't feel impersonal; the prices are reasonable (when booking by Agoda), the staff friendly, the food decent, and though the gym isn't great, at least there is one (and a pleasant pool, and even a track, which is a good alternative when the gym is closed).

• Location – close to sky train, food, entertainment, shopping.
• Hotel Infrastructure – many unexpected amenities on hotel property. For example Bird sanctuary and grocery store.
• Reception Staff was very accommodating.
• Doormen staff would guide you to over priced taxis. Very high pressure to use
these services.
• Noticeable preferential treatment to certain customers by some staff members.
The Ambassador is an older hotel, but has been upgraded to stay current. The lobby and tower rooms are on par with many higher priced hotels. The location is easy walking distance Sukhumvit and the Nana skytrain station. The location makes it a perfect starting point to get to any part of Bangkok easily. The hotel represents good value for the price (at Agoda pricing). The front desk and housekeeping staffs were excellent. However, this was offset by the pushy doormen and the rip off taxis they directed you to. For example, we were offered a price of 700 baht to the Impact Convention Center. The return ride from the center to the hotel by metered taxi was only 120 baht. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay. Having been to Bangkok many times on business and pleasure I would not hesitate to stay at the Ambassador again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Walk to Sukhumvit and flag a cab. Insist they use the meter. If they refuse slam the door and flag another. You will save a lot of money.
