No longer a Marriott
Local observers indicate the rates are lower than when managed by Marriott

I personally was disappointed to learn that I would not earn Marriott Rewards credit for my
stay now that this property is no longer managed by Marriott.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Look out for falling trees. I personally observed one of the big palms topple over into the swimming pool, slightly injuring an aged tourist.

Full Resort Facilities
Everthing you need is right there in the resort.

as far as i know, this is the only full resort in bkk. there many resteraunts etc all in the resort. the ferry across to the sktrain is great to get out and about in the city. it is actually quiet in this place, and is nice if you are looking to be in bkk but away from the noise and crowds.
Restaurant Tip:
The buffet dinner at the main resteraunt is great.

i thought this hotel was still the marriott riverside hotel and spa. unfortunately, it has left the marriott chain and become an anantara, so there are no marriott points to be earned

Luxury Resort on river in BKK

This hotel is on the quiter side of the river in Bangkok, but provides a free ferry service across for sight seeing. This is the only place I have stayed in Bangkok where in the resort is so quiet you can hear the crickets. Nice if you want to have a nice quite base away from the sometimes overwhelming crowds of Bangkok.

we realy enjoyed our stay at the anantara, it is a little out of the way , but they have a an excellent ferry boat that shuttles you to the river boat ferry, this forces you to use the river and not taxi or tuk tuk, i have ben to bangkok many times and the river is by far the best and most intresting way to go.
the hotel its self was very nice with excellent very friendly staff, and i would certainly go back.
Restaurant Tip:
the prices at this hotel are on a par with western prices, my advice is jump on the free ferry and and for a 10 min river trip you have all the nice restaurants at a fractoin of the coast.

really amazing hotel

this hotel is great, the pool area is luxourious! and we really enjoyed our stay. the restaurants are also great and we ended up spending a whole day in the hotel. there is also riverside transfer free of charge. the only downfall is that the spa treatments are ridiculously expensive.

Heavenly Relaxation, Delicious Breakfast

We enjoyed many parts of our stay at the Anantara. One of the reasons we chose this resort was the Trader Vic's, and it did not disappoint at all. Love Trader Vic's. We ended up doing dinner one night and drinks at the bar the next.
The room was lovely, a king-sized bed, and turn-down service each night, usually accompanied by local fruits and flowers on the pillow.
The pool area was busy on the first day, Monday, but was much quieter by Wednesday and Thursday, which made for great relaxation. The pool is great because it has deep areas and has a kids area that is shallow in one corner. If you are a couple without kids, definitely find a spot near the deep end to avoid many of the kids.
We did the breakfast buffet, which was great. I do not know where their baked goods come from, but all of the breads and pastries were really, really good.
The free boat to the SkyTrain is a great service. We ended up skipping the SkyTrain and taking the #1 bus to Wat Pho and the Grand Palace.
They do need to work on some small inconsistencies. These inconsistencies did not lessen our experience much, but I hold a resort like this to a higher standard. For example, we got fresh fruit and flowers with turn down service two out of four nights. At the poolside bar we were served bar snacks once out of three visits. When we asked, we were told that they were out. Their pool bar menu also did not have some items the entire time we stayed there. As I said, these did not affect our enjoyment much, but if they are trying to be one of the premier resorts in Bangkok, they should definitely make sure their service is consistent or at least say something when they don't have something.
Finally, they offered internet free for one hour per stay. I thought it was pretty ridiculous. If you can do one hour per stay, do an hour a day or be generous and offer it free. Chances are most of the guests will be down at the pool most of the day anyway. Not offering free internet is a pet peeve of mi
Hotel Feature Tip:
Go to the 94 coffee shop in the nearby shopping plaza for good coffee that is much cheaper than the Starbucks and for free internet. Warning: They change their internet password daily, so don't expect to go back and use it again without a coffee purchase.

we had the time of our lives. we stayed eight days and really got to know the staff, hotel, local area and people as well as the brilliant city, night life, culture, atmosphere. it really is all that you make of it.

I stayed with my 2 girls (7&9) for a few days here and we loved it. The combination of a relaxed hotel and sightseeing was great. Only disadvantage is that the boat that takes you to the public boat is only once every half hour so you have to do some planning!
