Pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The on-site dining options were excellent, and not so outrageously priced as is common with Marriott. They should still be ashamed of their internet charges, though!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Jim Thompsen house and museum. Easy to get to via skytrain, interesting, relaxing and peaceful, and a fine place to get lunch in clean and quiet surroundings.

Nice hotel and good facility

The hotel is nice and big. However it looks a little old and would suggest them to do some renovation. Very good deal to book this hotel room for my xmas holiday - complimentary breakfast, tea and champagne every day.
Location is not quite good but could still manage to go to the city centre in 20 mins if traffic is not that bad.

A hotel with a great atmosphere, right by the river, and with excellent ferry boat service to the city center. Very nice pool, and a great health studio with individual TV for every tread-mill. Staff is very friendly and service-oriented. The breakfast-buffet, however, was a disapointment this time - it used to be much better. The hotel's play-room for kids is rather small, and with few toys and limited opportunity for physical activities.

Everyone was very helpful.
There were several nice restaurants in the hotel and it was very easy to use a ferry right out of the hotel harbor.

This hotel was very nice. It was very big to begin with. Their international buffet outside was very good. There were many kinds of cuisine, but each section, there was a cook who constantly cooked or helped customers. Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, and etc... There happend to be several restaurants we knew from America there. One Italian restaurant offered our daughter to try out pizza making in the kitchen!!! She was able to toss/form the pizza dough and put some toppings on it. They even let her put it in the oven on the wall, letting her use their pizza tray. It was wonderful!!
To do some sightseeing, the fastest and easiest way is to take a ferry. We were able to get right on it from the hotel. Very easy.
Also, although we needed a little help for our personal reasons, they were willing to help us out in a great manner. We didn't have a chance to use a pool area, so I cannot write about it, but saw some people swimming in the pool.
Over all, we liked this hotel very much!!

Very beautiful hotel, nice swimming pool, free suttle boat to public traffic.I got lost at my firt night in the hotel,haha. However, not all the hotel stuff were nice, some of them didnt show their pleasure for the guest. I booked a king size bed room, but they said it was sold out, and give me a two double size room. Not much river view.

There is a shuttle service to the metro and from there you can go anywhere so even the bit remote location is no problem. The personel is great, they even gave us wet cold towels for our face at the pool.

Lovely Resort hotel in a big city

my family [10 yr old daughter & husband] and i stayed at the bangkok marriott just a few days ago, right before christmas 2010. we found the hotel to be in good shape despite the age and the staff to be sweet & courteous. we had a junior suite which comes with club lounge access which was awesome. the canapes were of high quality, wonderful fresh sushi, thai snacks and lots of alcoholic beverages.
the swimming pool was lovely, very resort-like with a swim-up bar. the hotel also has a good-size gym with the modern equipment. all was good.
the nicest thing of this hotel is the pier they built and the water shuttle service they provide every 10 minutes, what a treat! you get to go and experience the boat ride for 20 min to reach the part of the city with night market & mtr station, feel free to wander around in the alleys, safe and well-lit, experience the cheap & fresh thai food sold on the side of the streets nearby the mcdonald's there and just relax, ahhh. nice. very nice.

We spent our first few days here. The hotel is very large but spaced out well. The rooms are a good size. Pool and hot tub - lovely. Breakfast wonderful. Boat ride to & from skye train a good chance to relax not so great if you want to do a lot of shopping/sight seeing as a good 20 minutes down river.
